A friend of mine is looking for an article from HRM, probably early-mid-'60s, about a miniature T bucket built in Italy and powered by a Lancia Aurelia V6 engine. Ring a bell for anybody? Note: I am not suggesting that this was, or would be, a good idea. I'm just looking or a picture or a lead to the article.
I the ink that was in some magazine in the 60's but where I wouldn't know now. I had a Lacia Beta that I was thinking seriously about pulling the engine out of to put in a little modified but I couldn't come up with a simple solution to make it rear wheel drive.
Nice! I remember someone in England running a Ford Popular {Anglia} with a Bi-Turbo motor.... Musta been quicker than shit off a shiney shovel!!! Alfa-Romeo V6s are a very nice motor also..
The magazine was Quattroruote, and the engone was a Aurelia 2.8 V6, coupled with a rear mounted Lancia 4 speed trans and a indipendent rear end. Front axle was I beam with indipendent suspension. Body was hand made and was very similar to a T bucket. Car was completely hand built by Fabio Buzzi, a young engineer tha t was very passionate about hot rodding. A rarity in Italy. He even managed to get plates for the car. Has been sold several times, and now is in Sicily in the collection of a Lancia nut. Will try to find some pics.
Put the whole setup in the back, like a Fiat X 1/9. I think a few guys out there have put Fiat twin cams (same engine) in Xs to make Abarth replicas. I saw one article once where a guy put an Alfa V-6 in an X.
Adventurer, thank you for this information. I'm pretty sure the car was also in Hot Rod Magazine, but I'd be grateful for pictures from any source.
It was september 66 issue. Can you get it there, or shall I look on italian ebay? I have one but it's part of my collection.
Adventurer, thanks again for the picture. I found that the Hot Rod Magazine article was in the January '67 issue; I'll let my friend decide whether he wants to track down a copy.
With the lack of weight in the smaller engines we could have a new breed of 't's' leaving the line like a raped ape. I've never had an 'import' car since i moved to Canada but watching some of them at the drag strip they make immense power to weight ratios.
