Glad to see you tell the tale! Sucks! But the car can be fixed or replaced. Its a little tougher with Flesh and Bone. God Bless!
Bummer man. Those pics make me sad...but knowing what you started with, you will make it better than ever. Really glad you were not seriously hurt! Neal
Very glad to hear that you came thru it okay even tho the car did not. $1k for a frigging pole replacement.....now that sucks for sure. Hope you can get your car back together. Thanks for the pictures, makes me want to go safety check my car right now.
Hate to hear that, glad you are ok. Make those pics black and white, and they look just like some of those "wrecks of the 50's" pics.. here's an idea.. make a poster of the pics, like an anti-hotrod safety campaign from the '50s.. "Excessive speed can kill you.. Abilene Police Dept. add some writing about this being the result of two hoodlums racing at night on a deserted road", sell the posters to raise money for the rebuild. I'll take the first one... Brian
I'm glad to read that you are ok and a very lucky man. You could have it that pole head on. Sorry about the rod but as you've said, it's fixable.
You're still with us and in relatively good shape. That's the most important thing. Had my share of scary rides like that; no thanks.
I too want to say..... Sorry Dude, that sucks. Pictures are way cool in a non-gruesome but artsy way. You ought to add them to the "cool pictures" thread. Several of us have been in that situation where you know that control is lost and you are speeding way too fast in a direction you sure as hell don't want to go. Something very bad is just moments away and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it. That moment seems like it takes an eternity and all sorts of thoughts go through your head in milliseconds. But I've never done it in a vintage car where I also had to wonder about how the body would hold up with all that wood, and what sharp objects are in the cab with me, and wondering how well I tightened bolts like the body mount bolts and how is she going to hold up in .028 seconds. It must have been quite a trip.
Lame... You know not to second guess man...ya just turn and paddle. These thing happen...you cant explain it, and it dosent help to think about it...and the best part is you just dont. Like others of said, put together a parts list an send some PMs...I am more than happy to help from my stash
Sorry to hear that Jay, glad you're ok. I have a fan and hub assembly, it's yours if you want it. Just PM me.
Like everyone else, glad you were not seriously hurt. The car will be fixed, you already have the support and encouragement of all of us here.
If you need anything ...let me know. I may have some spare parts. You just thought you were gonna finish first..........
Aw shit, what a bummer. FIRST: really glad to hear you're ok Second: this sucks, but I know you can rebuild... better... stronger... faster
Glad you weren't hurt! You've got cool pictures and a story to tell. Have a beer, feel better, get started taking it down, start again. You'll have fun..
DAMN!!!!!! Take'n a Duece for a test drive=priceless Catch'n second and leaving rubber=Two dollars and wet pants Wreck'n the Duece first time out= Expensive as Hell!!! Back to the drawing boards. Mott
geez jay, that's terrible. Glad you're not hurt more than you are. I really sorry for you. I know what you've gone thru to get this far.
Oh, man! That really sucks...I know how much you put into that thing. Glad you're ok and looking forward to the next incarnation. Man...
That breaks the heart. Glad to hear you're ok. When you need help putting her back together give me a call. Don't be shy.
First, I'm glad you're okay. Second, it's cool you have a good attitude about it. It took me a while to get over wrecking my car. It still hurts, but I know now that she'll be back and so will yours. Yes, stronger AND better!
sorry that happened. all i can say is your car must of really hated that pole to go after it like that.
