Ok so i am a loss for battery room in the latest project, and have stumbled across this: http://www.performancedistributors.com/batteries.htm The Dyna-Batt. Claimed to be "able to crank over a 15:1 motor, and has a 16 amp-hour reserve capacity." No Cranking amp/CCA figures given. Anyone here have any experience with these units? At 7" long, 3" wide and 61/2" it fits the bill, but are they reliable??
I bought one of those years ago and it wouldn't even turn over the 6-volt starter on my flathead. I'll never buy one again.
They seem to be pretty good, we use a pair of them in promod cars (24 volts) to run the starter. 2 fit in place of one battery and save 45 lbs in the process They last a long time and seem to handle extreme enviroments very well.
I did not use the Dyna-Bat but instead the Odyssey (PC680T). I have a newly built 355 sbc that it spins over with ease. No a lot of age on it yet but it seems to have what it takes. I built a mount under the cowl. http://www.gotbatteries.com/items.asp?params=batteries/SLA/1/Hawker/PC680T/SL105/37L105S4
I had one in my coupe and it lasted 8 years without any problems. When I bought my roadster, there was a place over the rear fender made for one,so that's what I bought. It works great. Glenn
Mid 90s Honda Civic uses an incredibly small battery. 8X5X7 tall if I recall correctly. Not sure abut the CCA, but I'm gonna try one on the v12.
Looks like 410 CCA, This article compares all with size and price on last page http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/...elocation/what_is_cold_cranking_amps_cca.html
