The very first show my car ever went to was BTT50's in MN around 2002 or so and when I was there with it I spent a bunch of time talking to a guy that seemed to really like my car and said to me that I was influencing him not to chop his 5 window. He told me his car was probably going to be blue. By any chance is that your buddy? He was a super nice guy. Even if it is not our cars could be cousins and I love it. Nice car man, tell him that.

The red one that came out this year sends me big time.

The green one with flames is a car I saw being built when I was younger and had a major impact on me. I prefer the version of it without flames, white pin stripping, chrome wheels, and wide whites but no matter what it is still one of my fav cars of all time. The wheels on it now are pretty dang cool.

The other green one got slammed because it was not "steel" but it shows glass cars can be killer. Great car.

If you are talking about when it flipped years ago then yes. If your are talking about something recent then I have no idea.

IIRC the guy that owns it now bought it and fixed it after the roll over.

Merc- It's probably the same guy...His name is John Holman if it rings a bell. If yours is a black one out of Texas, then I'd bet it's him. I remember him getting pretty reved up about a stock height topped 5w out of Texas....
Jeff- the purple coupe has been restored and is owned by another local guy I've gotten to know pretty well named Ken Bentz. He bought it from Kurt(the builder) after it had been roughed back into shape. Ken repaired/repainted it just like Kurt had it. Even with all the attention the car has recieved, Ken still drives it regularly. He says it's just a car...He was telling me a funny story about how for a while after he got it redone, he actually kept it in a single car garage with a dirt floor...This was AFTER it won Street Rod of the year!
It was actually a HUGE influence on my buddies blue 5 window

Attached is a pic of the 3 of us "power parked" at 50's this year. Note how obvious this shot makes the "piecut" frame on Ken's purple coupe compared to John's stock one.

My car is gold and looked like this at the time it was in MN.

    It has different wheels now.

I have also been interested in meeting this guy someday, our cars appear to have been separated at birth.

It would seem great minds think alike. Similar and yet so different. I kinda like his mill fer sure.

Now I remember the year that was there, and that the black coupe was a full fendered car...

I told John the summer he got his done that it seemed like there were about half-a-dozen 32 5w's that came out looking like they had been fertilized by the same dad...Just the colors and a few details were different. They were all early 60's style highboys w/outside headers and whites w/chrome reverse wheels!

"Just Steve" Hendrickson did a great article on it in the August 94 (#60) issue of Rodders Digest. Kurt Seniscal is the builder, and helped Steve a bunch with his 3 window.

I've always loved the car too. To me, the car looks like it has a "cartoon bend" to it. By that, I mean it looks like it's winding up and about to leap off the pavement in a burst of speed.
I love how with the piecut frame and the raised engine, the engine becomes the focal point of the car. Because to me, hoodless unchannelled 32's seem to loose the engine between the grillshell and firewall.
