Yeah, not to get too off-topic, but the Rodster really hurts my feelings. :(

A chassis swap I can see, but this one totally crosses the line.

The ONLY way to make that abomination look better would be to cut so much of it up and replace with parts of an older truck, that you could've had less work doing a body swap, which leads us back to this thread, and thusly, back on-topic. ;)

Besides, these guys are into their Rodsters for $9k - $15k and 100 - 200 hours... about the same as a chassis swap (give or take some, depending on the body).

I have scanned pages from the mid-90's showing how to swap a '41 Ford Tudor Sedan onto a S10 chassis. It's about 4 pages and fairly informative, but not nearly as much detail as this thread has. I'll post them tomorrow when I'm at work in case someone could learn from them.

I've been keeping the pages because I had considered doing the swap to my '41 Tudor!

    Oh, HELL YES!!!

Post 'em, man! The more info, the better! Who knows? Maybe someone that's read all of this thread can take the best of everything he's read here and apply it to the prefect S-10 swap, and post it in detail for us here someday. :)

I have heard that there are 2 different widths for the front suspensions on the S10, changing somewhere around '91. I need to know the measurements from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface for both the early and late chassis, does anyone have these? Thanks.

bigtumtum is posting drawings of bed mounts here:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=283377

They're on page 3 - you folks doing truck swaps may find them handy!

The few I saw look like you could drop the drawing off (they have measurements) at a machine shop and have 'em made!

Okay, this whole thread is awesome, because I'm looking at a 39 Chevy right now that's on an S-10 frame, and I've yet to build a successful project.

    Dude!

That shit totally made me smile, right there. :) I have one of those... it's kind of on a semi-permanent loan to a friend of mine.

    I miss it!

    No, actually!

I had an old International pickup, and an Isuzu Hombre as pictured above. My friend needed to borrow a car last fall, and he's had it a year! I have 3-year-old twin daughters, and couldn't fit two car seats into the pickup, so I let him borrow it (no sense in letting it sit and rot) and started driving a Sunfire convertible (the kids and I go cruising), thinking that I would do a body swap between the International and the Hombre, assuming I'd get the Hombre back.

Long story short, I lost the International in a bad deal, and in the meantime came across a '50 F2. It was completely disassembled - not a bolt in it - but the chassis was completed! Because of this, I'm just keeping it, and will likely sell the Hombre to my friend.

So no, no S-10 swap for me! Not yet, anyway. Someday, maybe. :D

This thread started because I'd done a lot of research I'd done. I'd seen several informative threads and things online too, and figured I'd make this post, so I could gather it all in one place... but with lots of pictures, etc.
