I think the same, not to pick on the builder, but come on A 47 cad front end is to "right" to change it just to say you did it,I am A hard core custom dude but i like taking for factory look a enhancing it,my 47 cad has alot of custom work but doesn't look like it,kinda look like a chopped convert,I was thinking of listing some of the crap I done on it but maybe no one really even cares,if someone want to know, just let me know and ill post them

This is true, I got to look that car over when I was up there with Allen and his 61 Ford Wagon OZ Did, and the '47 is bad ass...Oz what ever happened to that rare black cad. convert you had sittin' in front of the shop?

Always had the hotts for a '47, Oz...but I picked up a '48 Sedanet that's going to get the sled and kustom treatment...just as soon as I'm done with the '55...so tell me some of the things you've done to that gorgeous convert of yours...

1955 Convertible, if I remember right. I have done this about 6 years ago.

    *Chopped
    *Fins removed
*Cruiser skirts with bullet style trims
    *1953 hubcaps
*Shaved door handles and everything else disturbing objects.

  7. Damn Oz sounds like you're making a cousin to my 55 although it'll be much nicer than mine if you're doing it.[IMG][IMG]

it takes hard work to mess up a classic cadillac, especially a 47! but unfortunately he has....

IMHO.........And that's what building a Kustom is all about. Some feel some go too far. Some think it shows that mean look when is coming down the street, they just wanted a different look. I think we all have seen Caddy's that people have gone way too far, I don't think this is one of them. I think this was not built to be a classic Kustom Cadillac, more of a radical Kustom.
But as that builder goes, he has also built one of the most beautiful Caddy's out there, that not many have seen.

Sorry for the bad pictures........Anyone have more of this Caddy?

    Just my 2 cents.......

  13. I've always felt that the less you do to a Caddy, the better it looks. Lowering, shaving, even chopping, are all cool. But they look just as good with a great paint job and lowered. They have such classic lines and the great chrome, gives them their appeal.

Just my opinion that he has gone too far with this, it doesnt look like a Cadillac anymore. Im one who appreciates it when someone trys new ideas and does what others haven't, but my taste does not agree with a lot of what he has done on this car.

I agree with you 100% Bob. Even though I think I managed to retain all the classic Cadillac character with my car, I honestly feel I'd like it better if it was a little more subtle and closer to stock, maybe lowered 3-4 with some of the trim shaved and no chop. Mines chopped 6" and every panel's been massaged and customized.

Cadillac's are definitely 'less is more' cars.

I striped mine yesterday, tried to keep the colors kinda subtle and close to the original shade. The darker purple stripes have pearl in them and pop a lot more in the sun.

That's Roger O'Dell's car. He also owns the green and gold Watson inspired '60 Cad, the Led Zeypher and he also has a REALLY nice '49 Sedanette.
