    Hey Josh,

Question for you......In your collection of old decals, would you happen to have one from Tiopet Oil (circle with Indian Chief on it)? I'd like to have a picture of one if you do. Thanks.

"I think Jud is actually spinning out in the one I put up."

Yup,Walt broke my bubble last summer at Latimore Valley when he told me Jud looped right after the shot was taken-LOL.

Ha! It always looked that way to me, but I wasn't sure.:)

How was Walt doing? The last I talked to his son, Rich, he said Walt's health was failing.

I'll second that and also say a big thank you to all the other racers who have contributed to this thread. Its fantastic to have so many guys that actually participated in what I consider the greatest era in US racing history. Thanks guys.

Sorry to hear that. We had a very nice talk last Aug. He was sharp as a tack, but he had trouble moving around.
I bought some prints and got him to autograph one of my favorites,Johnny Thomson at Williams Grove in 1957. Walt is a Legend of the highest order to me.

Did sombody mention Sprint Cars? Here is "The MAN, Lou Blaney from Hartford, Oh. From 1960 to 1981, Lou kicked ass from Western Ohio to Williams Grove. Along with Gus Linder, Dick Bailey and others, Lou brought the Sprints east to the 30x90 guys'country in Central Pa which spawned what is now known as the Pennsylvania Posse, the toughest bunch of sprint racers in the country. After 200+ Sprint wins including the '64 Williams Grove National Open, Lou turned his sprinter over to son Dave..whom you might've heard of.....:) and concentrated on the east coast Big Block Modifieds in which he also excelled in past Y2K.

BTW, after a rough winter the old broad is back! Right now I'm trying to finish my Falcon Bodied dirt Mod for the '08 racing season. When we get things further along, I'll have some construction pics for y'all.

  12. Had an ole boy tell me he thought the track was Scottsburg Ind.
He said that that big tree of of turn 4 had a car get air bone and got hung up in the tree. The sad note was that it was a fatal crash

    OK - a couple things

I just discovered the Private Message feature yesterday, and I think I've replied to all of them now. Sorry it took so long but I didn't realize it was there before.

Thanks to everyone who sent the Tiopet oil can picture, all 6 of you,:)but I'm looking for the decal. I saw them on a few race cars many years ago. The deal with that is that I have a friend with a "don't call it a Rat Rod"......a Traditional Rod, and he likes anything with Indians. He has Indian Blanket seats, of course, wears turquoise belts and watchbands, Cleveland Indians t-shirts & hats, etc., etc. He wants to make a Tiopet decal for his rod and needs a photo of one to work from. Decal OK:D

    Attention Ramblur!!

Harold Shaw drove for Hector before the war and won the HDTRA championship in the first City of Roses. He got killed in that car.
Cliff Griffith drove after the war in another City og Roses and won the 1946, 1947 MDTRA championships. Bobby Grim started driving for Hector in 1948 in the same City of Roses with an OFF in it. The car was a light yellow. In 1949 the put the black on the car along with Bardahl. In 1950 the car was all black. They got the new car in 1952. Bobby went USAC in 1959 and that is when Flose drove the car.

This is the Honore Bardahl Special taken at Winchester by Ken Coles with The Flyin' Frenchman in the cockpit. Photographers would frequently trade off pictures and sometimes who actually took the picture was forgotten but this was was Kenny's for sure, probably taken around 1962.

A little off topic.. But, Many GREATS start here.

I don't wanna start a flood of Kart pics, but if you have a couple good ones, post them. Its almost imposible to grow up around openwheel cars and not spend a lil time in a kart.

    Its a "right of passage"
