Borrowed pictures from www.SoCalCarCulture.com GNRS coverage but here is the two of the three running for Starbird's $20k this weekend. There is a fine nine and I'll take pictures of those tomorrow. Steve's Creations Newmad (Sorry no pictures) is the other canidate for the $$$. Its way too kool to see it in person. I believe this is the top three at the show. I would choose Jeff Meyer's chop'd 57 Caddy myself but Darryl Didn't ask for my opinion. Sunday I'll have some pictures to post. One of them is a chopped '51 Chevy fleetline from B.C Canada. Car was built on a Flash Gordon theme.....Stay tune it is so wild Bill Hines would shake his head. I had a great time talking to the brothers about the build. Very Kool guys.. I'll be there most of the day Saturday hangin out a fellow HAMBers vendor booth "COOL STUFF" Come by if you have time and say hey. Happy Trails, Mick
That wagon is really cool. The sedan delivery is awesome and the roadster is, well a roadster. Thanks for the pictures. Please get more and post. Thanks, BOBBY FORD
Went tonight, kinda of a let down for 20 bucks , but overall had a good time.I did get to see Speedy Bill which was kinda cool. I will post some pics later.
Hey Mick, Had planned on coming over today but, with the weather and the buddy that was coming with me getting sick, I'll have to count on you and the rest of the crew to post up some good pics. See ya in May fo sho.
Our grandson is in the hospital and so we can't make it. Take lots of pics, say hi to everyone, and see ya in May. I don't really care for the Newmad. To me, they took a beautiful design from the factory, and turned it into an early 50s Nash wagon. But that's just me.
I like that 40 deluxe treatment on the roadster.Definitely food for thought. Thanx for helping us live vicariously.
Hey guys, Here is a link to the pictures I have taken so far. I am heading back out and will try to get more shots. I'll build a Starbird 2008 page for my site after it is all over. I met several other HAMBers out there and sure I'll see more. http://www.crablogic.com/starbird08.htm CRAB
Here is the final link to pictures I put on my site: http://www.crablogic.com/starbird08.htm I had a great time and it was good seeing everyone. CRAB
I hope no 55 nomads were harmed during the build of the "newmad". Or at least tell me that it was too rusty/burned/rough to fix.
Sad to say there were no Mercs at the show this year. Below is a couple of Kustoms that some of you are just going to love. The Lincoln is Jay Whipking from Norfolk Nebraska. needless to say it is a wild Kustom. The chop top was way too kool..... The '51 Chevy was built by two brothers from B.C. Canada, their names were Chris and Andy Mynheer. Very Kool guys that wanted to build a Flash Gordon Kustom Car. I wish that I had more pictures of the interior. I wish I had it in the Merc. Hopefully you will get the chance to talk to the Brothers very entertaining and heart for kustoms.... Enjoy the pictures. Happy Trails, Mick
I was there Wednesday during setup. Not alot setup yet but looked to be a pretty good show.Couldn't stay for show, had other obligations. Mike
Mick, Sorry I missed you. I didn't get there 'til about 7:45. Spent the day blocking out the '39, probably should have not gone at all - I was beat after all those hours in the garage the walking around for three more at the show. J.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to Mick for helping me out! The crew that helped me out on load in was AMAZING - who was it? Krobe? and jailbird.............. it was great to meet ya and I checked my schedule - I have to do Knoxville TN this year for the NSRA - be sure to gimme the dates for the Stray Kat in Dewey as soon as you get them! I was happy with the show - but the lack of bubbletops and lack of pinstripers was a bit of a let down. I hope that people realize next year that they are going to try to get the pinstripers section back up and running. OK Thanks again to everyone - seeya at Louisville KY this weekend!
I don't do Starbirds anymore...........too high to get in and can't exit and return to eat or anything. So it's out for me.
Thanks for posting the pics of the fastback. I forgot about how krazy kool it was. I had a good time hangin out with them and talking about Kustoms. Love the interior! I never miss one because usually by the show I'm going stir crazy and missing my kustom family. The price to get in is high but I think that it is worth it. It's a great opportunity to play catch up with friends. I've entered the Merc this year and plan on parking in the Kustom Kemps display. Hope that they have a good turn out.... Happy Trails, Mick
