We took about 400 photos at the show here is a few highlights of set up at cleaning the Ala Kart, also Richard Peters & George Barris. (Richard Peters was the original owner of the car) Also I got to show Junior Conway the car and got his approval on my paint job (Junior Conway was the original painter) It was a honor to be part of such a great project, Hope those of you who went to the show enjoyed it. Later Darryl
Kick ass job!!! Thank you to all involved for bringing this piece of Hot Rod/Kustom history back to life.
That was one of my highlights and the Merc also...even though when I was talking to you with Zane, you thought I was someone else...LOL!
I was just looking at the Rodder's Journal, can't remember what issue, but this was unrestored sitting next to the original barris merc. Nice to see it finished. It looks Great!
It was an honor to have the opportunity to view it's debut. The build team did an outstanding job! You all should be very proud. I had fun hanging with you guys as well.....never a dull moment.
going to Sacramento??? wish it was at the S.F.R.C. show... would have taken some of the sting out out the $28.00 it cost to get in the door.
I think the re-debut of the Ala Kart is pretty much what sealed the deal in my decision to attend the GNRS. Everyone involved should be extremely proud of the results. It was nice seeing all of you again too. I look forward to the next time!
Darryl your dad would be proud man.As a lot of us are the job went to the right team. Endsville Franco.....................
Is the Ala-Kart going to be shown at other shows???? Seattle Roadster Show perhaps.... I'd love to see it in person.....
I really love it when you guys do the restores/clones of the timeless treasures of the past. I built that model and a kid, and purchased another model of it, about 5 years ago. It is flawless. Thanks for stirrin' the memories. Gorgeous job, and I thank you. BigKen
What happened to your giant roulette wheel? Those jackstands are perfect-they are almost invisible. Thank you for helping keep our history more than just pictures in old magazines.
The car was displayed as it was done in 1958, that is the reason for the "retro" Jack stands. Terri "a proud wife & sister"
Well done on one of the icons of rodding history. When I saw the photos of it after the fire I didn't think anyone would be able to bring it back, I think it looks better than before if that is possible.
Yeah... kinda like the outside of the the Eagle lunar-lander was covered in foil too, huh? Some people's kids... sheesh. Beautiful work Darryl... that paint is extraordinary. I found it hard to imagine how mind-bending that must have been in '58!
