I was wondering if anyone has ever attempted to install a 32 firewall in a 30-31. I dont know the dimensions, but it lookis like you could gain a couple of valuable inches and retain a vintage apearence.
What are you saying??? If you need a couple of inches I have seen two good ideas right here on the HAMB. 1. One person moved the firewall back a couple of inches. 2. many people have turned them around to gain engine space. 3.You could always make a flat engine turned piece and set it at any depth you needed. all cheaper than a 32 firewall. chuck
i've seen it done. there was also a thread on this with some pictures a while back...maybe a search could find it
i think the easyest way to get the effect of the 32 fire wall in a A would be to fab a flat one and bead roll in the beads of a 32. wich i do beleive is what skratch did on the head skratcher
Do a search. I posted a picture of a '31 roadster with a '32 firewall several years ago. I took the picture at the NSRA show at York. Really done well. They even grafted a cowl vent from a '32. The un-trained would have thought they were looking at a deuce.
I asked this question a while back and all I got was smarmy answers as well. A deuce firewall would look trick in a 30/31 ford coupe or roadster/tudor.
I found these three in a quick search. chuck Rolfs Model A, Left the firewall instock location but recessed just enough to clear the engine. Link on the 32 in a model A question. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83784&highlight=model+a+firewall chuck
