Congratulations Jeff, always good to see a clean '51. I have been using mine as a summer daily driver for the last 38 years; it doesn't get much better. (Right now, power steering and A/C would help. My fault, not the cars.)

Yep, just something cool about stuff like the dome lights still working. I’m anxious to see what else falls into that category. Best I can tell is that this car is pretty darn unmolested. Perfect place to start messing it up! Just kidding, but this is a hot rod and custom group. We can’t leave anything alone. :D

  5. Very cool! Sometimes the car finds you....not that I would know anything about that. Haha! Looking forward to see what you do with it.

LOL Couldn't get the dome light in my old "51 Tudor to work either...so I did the obvious thing... cut the roof off.

Drove the car off the trailer and into the shop, ordered Aerostar springs, and heading to go get lowering blocks from Nostalgia Sid’s now. Then, I guess I’ll figure out why the brakes don’t work. After not seeing any obvious leaks at wheel cylinders, guessing I need a master cylinder. But, will verify once I look it all over closer. Oh, and the carburetor is also leaking. So, need to fix that.

Grabbed a set of skirts from Sid too…just in case I decide it needs them. Trying to knock this out quick. :D

Pretty sure I have some 6.70-15 whitewalls I can use. :D But, I’m also not keen on chrome smoothies. I need some wheels.

Good luck if it needs a master - it's a BITCH to replace - consider the dual master upgrade - it's a kit that keeps it under the floor - to lower mine in front, I just used 1" box tubing between the lower spring perch and control arms - someone made a kit to do that too - with the stock springs it gets you 2" lower.

Great score Jeff. It's cool when a car finds its way to the exact right guy. Excellent. That chrome being redone already is a Godsend. Stance is huge. Enjoy!

Thanks! I started that way on my 56 and still have those blocks that I made from when I pulled them and put the Aerostar springs in. Might take a combination of both? We will see.

Hoping by the time this weekend is over it is lowered and stopping at minimum. :D

Sid also had a short set of cruiser skirts that might look pretty cool on the car. I’ll get the stance right and whitewalls on then decide what I want.

  16. I’ve got some 14x60 cruisers I hope to use one day

I did the Aerostar springs in the front with the new upper A arm brackets to get the geometry right and 4” drop rear springs and my car sits really nice. IMG_2546.jpeg

@guthriesmith won’t the stock wheels from your 56 ford fit this car? Both are 4 1/2” bolt circle??

Maybe I should have said I was keeping them back in case I ever want to go back to painted wheels on the 56? They have pretty decent paint that matches the 56 now. I did have the original wheels off Roothawg’s 55, but another buddy with a 56 needed some…so, I gave those away.

    Kinda grungy under the hood.

Well, car is one of the most rust free old shoeboxes I have seen. But, seems the rockers were too far down to reach with any paint other than the runs that made it down there. Should be less noticeable when closer to the ground? And, pretty sure no one will notice when it is going down the road. :D I knew it was an amateur paint job. But, it will be perfect for a driver.

Not really. Took me two days to get it off the trailer. :D Teresa works evenings now at a nursing home, so I try to spend the evenings she has off doing stuff with her which included Tuesday. Anyway, she works through Sunday evening now which is why I know I can make some progress over the next few days.
