Don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but... The Klairmont Kollections Automotive Museum in Chicago is auctioning it's collection with Mecum, no reserves in September. Includes the Golden Sahara 2!
Yup, there is some great stuff there..... no room at the Inn.... I talked to Dana Mecum at a mutual friends funeral a few weeks ago and he told me about that sale
You have to admit the car was way ahead of its time and a lot of the futuristic stuff are normal options for cars nowadays. I’ve always liked the car but the sale picture doesn’t do it justice
Man, there's something for almost everyone! The two that caught my eye (not that I can afford either one) is the '40 Ford Formal limo (only known example) and the replica Duesenberg SJ Phaeton.
I have toured the museum, it has a number of decent collectable cars but it also has its share of “clown” cars. Quite a few of them look like fugitives from other auctions. Mannequins are rampant which in my mind ads to the circus atmosphere.
Several Bubble Tops, Customs, Munster Coffin Car, Muscle Cars, Motor Bikes , European…. Crazy all No Reserve ! This will tell a lot where the market is at.
I saw it when it was new and thought it looked like a brothel on wheels. Time hasn't made it any better.
What a neat collection of cars and in all flavors classics, minis,Kustoms and a bitchen Jeep collection
I was wondering if the mod top was ex- Steven Juliano, but it's not. Crazy how both of them survived.
Cutting edge futuristic effort at the time. Someone tries that now and we shun it. When it's 70 years old, we can't get enough! Love it!
