nope, not changing my mind, I am a custom guy and I just plain can't get excited over a bunch of cars with basically bone stock bodies... yawn.... again just my opinion and it shouldn't mean shit to anyone but me...

    The Absolute Gosphel.........

    Amen !

IMHO, truer words were never spoken. There are thousands of 32s that are excellently finished or projects, but what constitutes greatness is often reserved for professionally built and shown high dollar vehicles. To me the lower budget 32 that someone has sweated and bled and burned himself to get it the way he wants it is also just as great because its a real car that can be driven and enjoyed. I like several styles of hot rod 32s. One of My long time favorites is the Doyle Gammel coupe because it has "the look" that I like. But then I see plenty of others that I like and they aren't clones or even close to Gammel. So I agree with Danny and Anthony..........:)

    Gammel 32 Cpe Article 6 001.jpg

But I find that I like this just as well...because I can just imagine the effort that someone put into this car AND he drives it. Its just as worthy of being a great 32 as any other 32. IMHO

Here is another 32 that sticks in my mind above all the shine and polished ones.
Its just the epitome of what a hot rod should be (in my mind)

    A-32 Ford example 3a.JPG

    I'd drive it..........

  5. Don't feel like the lone ranger, I share your opinion. I guess most guys missed the CUSTOM heading of this thread...o_O

I think this would a be a pretty short thread however, as radical custom '32 Fords are as rare as hens teeth. Besides the Lil' Coffin, the only other one I'm aware of is the Silver Sapphire AKA the Lil' Deuce Coupe. In term of body mods, the Coffin wins hands down as you'd be hard-pressed to find any original Ford styling cues other than the general shape. If you were going to clone it, you could start with almost any early '30s sedan of roughly the same dimensions.

But the Sapphire has its own charm. While still recognizable as a '32 Ford, it has its own claim to fame after being immortalized by its place on the Beach Boys album cover. You would be hard-pressed to find someone who was young in the early '60s who wouldn't recognize it. I'll admit that I'm partial to it, if I had my choice between the two, I'd take the Sapphire... mostly because I like blue cars...

Again all opinions so here's mine.

I break cars down into sub groups such as coupe, Tudor, roadster etc. Then there is customs, hot rods, race cars, beaters and sleepers . So I've never been able to say there is one perfect car by year or make.

The sleepers, as I call them, are cars built only for one purpose, to be fast on the street. And are among my favorite category.

32's make the best hot rods and 50 mercs make the best customs but that doesn't mean there isn't competition in other makes and models with them...

Little deuce coupe and lil coffin are at the top of some of my favs, little deuce I'd drive the wheels off of it !! I'd even let Anthony ride shot gun !!

  9. The best 32’s of all time. That is the query. If it’s a matter of worldwide acclaim, then it’s the Graffiti Coupe, however if you’re bit of a traditionalist then I offer you this. IMG_0051.jpeg

^^ pretty sure that’s the one that a HAMBer owns, that he sold off the Ardun and Halibrands. Installed a SBC and some 1-800 aluminum wheels. Said he didn’t want the maintenance. Real shame.

  14. As Anthony said, each of us has an opinion of what we think is the best, very few of us agree but in our hearts we know we are right.

Personally I think the 32 Vicky that Roy Brizio built for Eric Clapton just might be one of the Best 32 Fords out there

It's hard to pick just one '32 Ford when you consider the line up and all of the different styles etc

Put me down as another for the Doane Spencer Roadster

    Cheers Turns

So pardon my thievery HRP but I'm 1000% with ya on this choice. I have a story about having been given one of these when I was just 16.
Billy Bandit Asked if I'd Keep 'em coming so here is my final hard to fathom, digest believe final one. MAN THIS HERE-THANG- TURNS-MY- CRANK!!!!!!!!!!!

Raised 1947/1957 small country community south Seattle. One brother four years Yunger. Mother left when I was 10, brother was 6, dad drank worked for Boeing, we lived in a converted garage from a burned down house. in the summer I used his push mower cutting grass, brother would help, (50 cents a lawn, front and back) for my megger needs (no allowance). He did right by us otherwise we never suffered, but there was never any money for us.
One older couple took pity on Gary and I. and always tipped us. Dad remarried the woman down the street, she drank.
I took the school bus.to school as did Gary Turned sixteen in April. Walking home one afternoon Mr. & Mrs. Noise were in the yard I mowed calling me over, I thought the lawn needed cutting. Mr. asked me If I was driving yet.? Answer No
Do you have a car? No. Would you like mine? No answer!!
Well long ..........short. I had been driving some, enough anyway to get the block and a half home. Yup. 1932 Vicky. New paint job.....................purple, (done in a 50-year-old wood garage dirt floor two single light bulbs with brush, lime green wire wheels. But by damn it was goanna be mine.........................................................UNTIL DAD CAME HOME.
He hit the drive every day from Boeing at 4:10 PM and we, (Gay & I better damned well better be in sight!
He look at the Vicky, said What the hell is that? I told him, he said TAKE IT BACK!! I DID END OF STORY.

I like the color combo. It moves me.

People can obviously do whatever they want with their money but why buy a well built and well known hot rod and take it apart? I don't follow that logic. To each their own. It was a cool car.

said it once and I'll say it again, 32 Fords, ESPECIALLY Roadsters are like Mr. Potato Head. buy one, pop off some parts and pop on some different ones... pop-pop-pop- now you have your own version of coolness..

I know we don't do big wheels on here, but does that apply to steering wheels?
