The Dating Game was created in 1965 by the man who wrote the hit song "Palisades Park" for Freddie Cannon and also gave us the "Gong Show", Chuck Barris Among other future stars, Farrah Fawcett, Suzanne Somers, Sally Field, Tom Selleck, and Steve Martin appeared on The Dating Game in the early 1970s. The host of the program was the well liked Jim Lange. In later years, he lived in Marin County, California, with his wife, Michigan native Nancy Fleming, former Miss America 1961, whom he married in 1978. And no. They did not meet on The Dating Game. But 20 couples who met on the show did eventually wed thanks to Jim Lange, Chuck Barris and the early TV Gods of fate.
