    sounds like fun
I live about 20 minutes from the museum
my daughter lives right up the hill from it
and my mother lived in Nahcotta, right up the road from Long Beach.
some great roads for an old Vette on the way out to Long Beach.

I will say one thing about Squirrel - He can pack a car/vette truck better than anyone I’ve ever seen. Trust me on that. I was amazed at what he got in the trunk.
Any trip he does is and always will be an adventure.

  4. Good luck Jim !

My truck came from Fife, 2600 miles over that way, I don't think it'll be driving back there any time soon. Lol

I'll be down near Bend on Friday.

I got an early start this morning to try to beat the heat.

Many years back the museum had a deuce roadster with a turbine engine out of a helicopter in it, guess the builder didn't want to hear the "belly button" sbc comments.

  7. Lemay's is well worth the time, stuff you'll never see anywhere else and some great short-term displays. I was showing a couple 1931 Chryslers at the concours there and it happened to be the 60th anniversary of Corvette.

I'll see if I can make it there for a little while, kind of depends on what some other people are doing tomorrow? :)

And I might swing by the salt flats today, just because it's been a while since I've been there. I know a guy who's racing, so it would be fun to drop in and see how they're doing, if I can find the car.

Another early start, I can't sleep in when I'm on the road.

I made it to Wendover. I guess I'll go out on the salt and see if I can find Turk and Schroeder.

obligatory car on the salt pictures. Fortunately the salt was really dry, so it's not getting on the car at all, you can see the tires are not white.

I met up with a few folks I know, who are driving late model cars....

Off to Tacoma today. I'm in Boise area, so it's not far to go now.

I plan to visit the LeMay this afternoon, then hang out around the hotel as other Rally folks arrive.

The little red car has been doing well, it loves going down the highway at 70 mph.

    Bravo @squirrel !
Its a bit wet here in Seattle at the moment, just a drizzle. Text me when you are in Tacoma today, and I will drive down and deliver the rooster shirt to you.

Be safe out there on the road!
    Thanks from Dennis.

    Hey @squirrel
Just curious how far you have made it at this point, hope you side stepped what drizzle we had earlier.
    Thanks from Dennis.

Hey @squirrel, and to anybody else that has chimed in on this thread!

Hey Jim, it was a real pleasure to meet you today!
When I saw your first text to me at 1:50 PM, I just started laughing, because I knew just how terrible the traffic was going to be getting out of Seattle heading south bound at that time of day.

There was no way of you knowing how bad the traffic was at that time of day, going either way.

I should have left two hours earlier, but no big deal, I am retired, and I dropped what I was doing, grabbed one the NOS XL Rooster shirts and headed south.

We at least were able to keep in touch via text and after a lot of slow going, I finally got down to the Lemay Museum at around 4:19 PM.

I hung around and watched a friend of Jim's trying to get his little "viralux" "chech" car to run, it was fun to push it, to try to get it to start, which it eventually did.

I exchanged a few stories from my past in regards to my fathers wrecking yard, and Jim had a few tidbits of that experience to share as well.

I said so long and have a fun safe trip, and I proceeded to head over to the Pick Quick drive in, to get the killer triple cheese burger and fries and a 16 OZ Green River with an extra shot of syrup!

I just now got back home from Tacoma, 8:39 PM. Its been a long day, but it was well worth it to Meet the mighty Squirrel, and get a short ride in the amazing red corvette, and award another rooster shirt to a person that can definitely appreciate it!
    Thanks from Dennis.

thanks again for the shirt, and for coming to visit!

This Hudson is also on the rally.

There was a car show going on at the same time, so we saw lots of other cars, too.

I got my car all dressed up as "speed racer Mach 5" for the Rally. I'll wear a cheesy costume, also, pics tomorrow if I remember and have time.

If going that way home, you could cut a lot of time by by taking sr167 to sr410 over the mts to Yakima & then sr82. Enjoy the NW!

Friday will be a beautiful drive!
Skookum Falls is on sr410 after Greenwater, the turnout comes up quick and it's after the closed off Mt. Rainier view turnout.

  28. Beware the Skookum!

What a great word . . . Skookum! It's just fun to say. I've got to find a way to use it more frequently in daily conversation.

    :D SKOOKUM!
