I'm not ready. Been busy with my move. I still need to build a garage before winter.
I want to switch my ignition over to Mallory dual points, so i can get my three duece set-up on. I have most of the new parts in hand but just need to have time to make the swaps before the trip. I want to get the new ignition on and sorted out before i do the intake and carbs. The 'Top Secret Drags' are the IMG_20250806_084240.jpg weekend following LFlll
and I want to go run there again as well.
I need to switch gears here and get my ass moving on "improvements" to my heap! Carbs are rebuilt, linkage is made. Most odds and ends are accounted for on the air/ fuel side. Waiting for some ignition odds and ends.

A kind of miracle has to happen for me to drive my '49, if that can't happen I would drive my off topic and park in the back. Sheesh! All my friend help is a buck and change away and they all have busy lives.

Had a leaky head gasket and a head that was cracked, 600 later, new head needs installed and yadda yadda yadda with the components. 125k miles on a '56 235 with a 1967-69 3sp+od, no miles driven on my new to me 1962 261ci, Fentons, 4bbl Clifford intake with a 390cfm Holley.

I really am excited about driving her. I've replaced the king pins and the front engine mount was absolutely gone, I mean vanished. Ten years ago a guy molded new ones out of a dense neoprene, well, it did not mix well with the inevitable oil and over time it clear disintegrated, as in absolutely nearly gone! Sooo, she is going to ride and steer soooo much better not to mention the higher giddyup of the 261 with the 4 barrel.

  12. If I were closer, I’d be there to help you finish her.

Thanks Andy. Not a hard job at all. A friend is coming from a buck and change away this weekend and we will get the head on. I have a Best gasket, four pilot studs for optimal alignment, have the head balanced nicely on the engine lift. Then it's just a matter of getting everything hooked up. The problem is the deck people are coming and need the driveway for lumber and the tool trailer which will block me in for two weeks(+?). I will need to get some shakedown cruises under my belt before 425 miles to Lloyd's. I guess drama makes life exciting, doesn't it?

  14. It’s always something. I’m planning on driving mine too. It’s a little over 400 miles for me too. However, Lloyd and I shook ours down going to Bowling Green this year. It’s about 400 miles round trip from his house to BG. He got 16 mpg and I got 17!

Randy get after it or leave alone, that’s a lot.

If i put a poker run together for Saturday morning, do you guys wanna go back by the old General store in Preston? Same one as Lloydfest I. I'm looking at a couple of different routes we could take, that doesn't take the entire day

  17. The General store would be fantastic!! Randy can get some of that “special” beef jerky.

The General Store would be great. I'm pretty sure that it was Sherry's favorite part of the cruise. However, if you choose somewhere else I'm sure it'll be just as good.

I'm thinking small town sights. out of Camargo, to Jeffersonville, Frenchburg, Olympia, Preston, Hope, and back to Camargo. Pretty good stretch of amish country.

  20. That sounds great!! We are in!! Tonya might be bringing her best friend, they can follow in her car.

Finally got the new Dennis Carpenter rubber center link hooked to the two parts of the choke rod. Choke works now. :)

    Memo to self:
    (1) Drain the coolant down and install new temp gauge.
    (2) Find some firewall grommets.
    (3) Tie the rat's nest wiring under the dash into a little bit tidier mess than it is now.
    (4) Do final touch speed secrets for Extreme Valve Cover Racers. Bwahhahaha
    (5) Put coolant back in car along with spare tire, jack and lug wrench.
    (6) Re-install breather.
    (7) Make sure Alyn is in car before I leave.

And, I got the windshield re-sealed, I hope.

  26. Possibly, her friend won’t know if she can go until the time gets closer. They will get a motel room if it happens.

  27. It was a bag Lloyd bought and didn’t like the flavor of. Randy ate it and said it possessed a certain flavor.

    Alan,

Maybe you better get a pad of Post-It notes and plaster them all over reminding you to take Alyn. Like on the steering wheel, over the ignition key hole, on the door handle, etc., etc.
