  3. Yea. How did it feel on the launch? Did it Bite. How do you think the clutch is working? Any slip? Just trying to get a grip on what the runs felt like. I agree , lower gears are in order for the rear. Maybe some rear suspension tuning? I am with you , love the hot rod youhave saved.

It's good Mike, clutch works great, no issues. It's out of my system now. If i start putting gears in it, then I'll be like a lot of people that can't come to Lloydfest because they built a race car and can't drive it lmao! I'm over it. I believe in my heart that I'm a set of tires away from a 12 second pass down the 1/4 mile, and I'll stick with that. Next money spent will be on doors and fenders, maybe even a fiberglass front end :D

    Good plan.
And BTW, we'd all love to see a post where you take the former owner out for a ride and run through the gears! :D

You need to make one of my Hillbilly Clutch Slippers. Really helps tame tire spin without bogging the engine, softer clutch hit but that softer hit lasts longer. Far cheaper than a set of tires!!!

    Here's a link...
    https://grannys.tripod.com/hillbillyclutchslipper2a.html

I used that exact unit in the link to run low 6.50's with 1.45 60's with a Saginaw 4spd and diaphragm clutch. Later on, I used that same Hillbilly slipper to run low 5.70's with 1.30 60's with a Ford Toploader and a diaphragm clutch. I currently make/sell a refined version of the Hillbilly that I call the ClutchTamer, it's basically the same except with a shorter cylinder. Andrew Starr used one in his '56 before switching to my Hitmaster unit, there are even record holding NHRA class cars using the 'tamer.

Well I'm retired, no more firehouse job :D and tonight I took the 55 to the downtown cruise in. Best part, my 16 year old daughter went with me. So we hung out, talked cars, etc... then we went out to eat, but when I hit the bypass, I brought the car off and ran it through 3 gears  you should've seen the look on her face!!! At first she looked pissed, then the biggest smile ever came out :) when we got home, I asked her if she liked hot rodding, and she reminded me about when she was 7 or 8 years old, and I'd do donuts with her in my model A  she hasn't forgotten. Anyway, thought I'd tell you guys about it. Hope everybody is well, hope to see a bunch of you at Lloydfest III. Screenshot_20250731_163535_Gallery.jpg 20250801_210941.jpg 20250503_180846.jpg

And if you blow up the picture of me and Chief, that's me in the picture on the wall, at a construction company fire, about to go on the roof.

Congrats! You'll be one of those retired guys with a lot going on, I'm sure. Some retirees I've met wouldn't have time now for a job, they're so busy.
