Got a chance to visit the 62 biscayne project this afternoon. Got the inner fenders installed and the front clip aligned and some of the front sheet metal installed. Still a bit to do but progress is progress.

Thought it would be a good idea to try and make the radiator cap look a little better. IMG_3001.jpeg

IMG_3332.jpeg IMG_3329.jpeg Built a yo yo shifter knob for a B&M Unimatic, made a shifter cable mounting bracket. Cleaned up the unimatic, also ground deeper notches on the Drive and Nuetral detents . It feels a little better, not as easy to shift into N or R. Working on making a physical reverse lock out. Most likely a bar or rod located at the lever to keep shifter from engaging reverse. Is physically locking out neutral a good or bad idea? It would be nice not to worry about hitting neutral under full acceleration.

:DI got the oil and filter changed on the '48, getting ready for Lloydfest. Changing out the incorrect wiper arms and blades for the ones that are supposed to be there.:)

That’s awesome man! Congrats on the move, that looks like a killer shop to hang and work in.

Finished up the brake pedal and lines. Went to bleed the system last night and looked for brake fluid for 20 minutes. Didn’t find any and it was 10:30 pm. And can’t get back in the garage until Sunday. Booooooo.

  12. Hopefully it'll get little cooler and easier to put gas in, that little hole in the roof is cumbersome, plus it's a hole in the roof.

Following on from my previous post, we were chatting at my club meet this week about the hood trim and how I wasn't willing to pay/risk shipping a 'bull nose' trim from the states.

Next thing, a brother disappears and comes back with a full length trim from his 49 chevy truck that he has spare.

Offered it up last night and I can definitely make it work with a bit of tweaking!

Something different, will cost pennies to make work and fits my ethos of using what I have locally.

    Lemme know your thoughts.

Looks to me like it won't take much work to make that work perfectly.

Remember to show us what it looks like when done.

I am working on figuring out if I can keep this shop open.

    It's not looking good.

Tariffs have unintentionally created price competition within the US manufacturing sector.

Our margins were already razor thin. We cannot absorb any portion of the increased costs.

    Other shops can.

Sorry to hear that @gimpyshotrods. It’s hard being in business for yourself, especially when the economy starts to turn against you. Wishing you the best.

Latest project, was my uncle’s first car ‘39 ford standard that he bought in ‘67. Been parked since ‘73. Just going through it fixing what it needs to drive until I can give it a proper frame off.

Cleaning the trunk out and getting the seam sealer in. Plan to paint the truck and trunk pan tomorrow.
Figured I have stuff to do while I'm still in a creators block on the pans inside the car.

Bleeding a new brake system…and now painting a chassis apparently. I hate brake fluid.

  28. Working on getting this home to me tomorrow. Finally found a fair priced, solid original to start with. I won't have to fix anybodies screw-ups, rather just build it like I want it. Plans are American Rebel Sprints. 15 x 4 1/2's up front and 16 x 8's out back, get it as low as possible and still a driver and leave the roof where it is. Engine is undecided, but no SBC in it. Something different yet dependable and drive-able down the road. Second photo is for motivation IMG_3644.JPG . upload_2025-8-7_19-27-37.png

IMG_3397.jpeg IMG_3399.jpeg IMG_3398.jpeg IMG_3400.jpeg Mocking up headers for the Dirt Cheap Dart. Drivers side manifold that came with engine hit steering, bought a magnum manifold but it is tight against the steering requiring grinding and a mini starter. Found three headers for 20 or 25 bucks. I might pull what little hair I have left out before I finish. Thought about making fenderwell headers but I don’t like how close it will be to the tire. The engine is wee bit tight in the engine bay.

My work space is a 2-car garage with wood shop on one side. Decided best to stop testing faith with sparks flying from angle grinder among the sawdust. Cobbled together portable vice stand to take into yard to grind away :) IMG_2912.jpeg
