    Even if nothing else happens to be useful those way cool 40/41 round spindles are worth the trip to get them. And you can never own too many banjo rears.

    Many other parts could be useful.

    I, and about a thousand others, are watching.

    Hood off firewall. Wiring and hoses off the front chunk. Front bumper irons off. Probably some fender brace rods. Look under radiator for a couple bolts. Fenders to cowl.

    I think it’s three bolts on back if each fender to the cowl, one more to the running board, and then I think there is one single bolt under the radiator. Then the radiator I think has one to three bolts each side plus radiator. Shouldn’t be too terrible

    @Six Ball ya know, it really is a lot of good parts and I ended up in a funny spot. I started changing my intended plan a little just so I could use a ton of this 41. Even then I felt like there was almost enough for yet another little modifed or something.

    I spent a lot of time seeing how it all goes together and comes apart and eventually realized that this “back burner” project was starting to make me feel over whelmed with the space it was taking up in the shop and in my head.

    So I came up with a plan.

    I put some good wheels and tires on it, called my buddy up with the trailer and coasted up onto it and sent it to his farm. That’s part one of the plan, it will let the roadster take the right position in the roster of projects and give me back some room to work and think.

    Part two of the plan is I’m taking the things I really want the most and hold true to the original plan in my head and the rest I ear marked for two friends who have hot rods in need of some of those parts in order to hit the road sooner.

    They have shown up at the drop of a hat to help
    me more than once and I feel better knowing those parts can help them rather than sit on my shelf or whatever I might do with them.

    That kinda feels more in the spirit of Atch’s generosity as well.

    on that note I got a front spring from him as well so after I get a few bits off the 41 and some from a buddy further south I should be able to put this frame back together with full suspension, brakes and tires for the first time!

    That is exactly why I have most of what I need to build two more projects beyond my '26 roadster. I also have parts that need to be in other peoples piles.

    Alright quick update.

    Nothing to exciting but Davey @Austin kays and I got the 41 mostly apart. IMG_1044.jpeg what we figured would take 3 hours took 6.5 with a torch. We could have picked a cooler day… IMG_1041.jpeg the bolts on the car were soft enough to round almost right away but the shafts strong enough to hold. So out came the hot wrench. IMG_1042.jpeg Hot rod flames?
    IMG_1043.jpeg End of the day the motor, trans, rear, dash and horn ring with north with Austin. Most of it goes to active projects. I think he’s gonna go back for the firewall as well.
    IMG_1045.jpeg I took my wheels and tires and then the front backing plates, hubs and drums. Dawn soaped the wheels and tires and left in the boiling sun for a day or two to dry. The front end stuff and hardware was really really gross. Had roaches come out of it when I took it apart so the ride home was in 60 gallon yard waist bags with it tight as tight shut as it’s gonna get. And then once home they got a new bag and half a tall boy of raid to hot box before I tied it tight and left in the sun. I’ll probably open and spray again and then when I get time I’ll inspect and spray. Then Dawn dish soap and hot water trying to get the grease off the hubs and catches.

    That being said I’d rather take greasy parts over rusty ones!

    after Austin gets what he needs from the drivetrain I’m going to snag the 3 speed and clean it up. I havnt opened my donor trans for the build yet so figured an additional one would be a good idea.

    Davey is going to pull a few parts and then flip the rest for his trouble. I’ll list them here in case someone’s looking

    1941 ford parts

    Front axle and spring - same as a 40?

    Good looking stock radiator
    Good hood side trim
    Fair center hood trim
    Perfect cowl side trim
    The fender tops look pretty solid, the bottoms are thin around the wheel wells but the front is good for patches maybe
    The small grills have zero shine but aren’t busted
    Inner fenders are actually very nice just dirty.
    It has the chin piece under the center grill that always seems to be missing. It’s got a dent in it but it appears solid. Also has the pan that is kind of a front roll pan under all that.
    Good cowl vent and mechanism
    I think the radiator yoke and the slam panel/ supports are probably rough but useable after clean up. The hood side of the latch is toast.
    Front upper shock mount brackets for tube shocks.
    The bracket holding the steering box to the frame is good - used for putting a 37-48 box on like an A threw 32 frame but the box is toast
    One good headlight ring

    anyhow that stuffs available for sale and I’m sure if there’s a little piece your needing he’d go look and see if it’s still there. Let me know and I’ll put you in contact.

    Tim,

    Say it isn't so. Those round spindles are the reason I acquired this thing in the first place. That said, it's yours to do with as you wish. If you sell them I hope you get a king's ransom for them to monetarily support your projects.

    To whoever winds up with the spindles: please let me know what you do with them. I'd love to see them in use.

    @atch theres a good chance they end up on Davey’s Model A project. Was too hot to strip it down any further the other day. We’ll keep you posted!

  16. If front crossmember isn't cracked and if doable to remove I am in need of said crossmember for my '41 Ute. Happy to swing some $$ your way

    Spindles are going on his model A project and @Jimmy B hes gonna take photos of it for you tomorrow. Said he might just cut the frame rail before and after the cross member and let you mess with the rivets. I’ll keep ya posted

    Alright not to much of an update. Been looking at rear hub pullers for banjo rear ends. Seems like one you need to buy not borrow. The options for buying new seem to be these three. IMG_1207.jpeg thus is the most common and runs 50-60 bucks. Trying to find people who actually own and use pullers this seems to be the one most people have. I don’t love the two puller bolts but it apparently works well enough.
    IMG_1206.jpeg This one is out of stock nearly everywhere. I like the design but I’m leery of any new cast tools after having so many immediately crack. So far I havnt found anyone who owns this one. IMG_1208.jpeg this is the third new option which looks the best but is four times as much money if that price isn’t Totaly out dated.

    Atch had a great thread not to long ago about home made pullers as well. Kinda curious what you guys are actually using.

    other than that I did help @drdave dig his model A out and my wife and I took turns cutting laps in it. Fun car!

    Also @atch the spindles are going on Davey’s model A project! It’s a fenderless Tudor on an A frame, it’s a 30/1 but I think he’s toying with putting a 30 ish olds cowl and A pillars on it. Kinda wild but seems like it could work :)

    I had one of the these but loaned it out never to return. I bought the KR Wilson reproduction one and am glad my old one never returned. Way nicer, no damage to threads on axles and worth every penny. Works on even the most stubborn hubs,

    Just be sure you thread something on the end of the axle. If you apply a bunch of force to remove the hub, the cotter keyhole distorts, or the puller rocks, wreaking havoc on the end threads of the axle.

    Yeah i see a lot of guys putting a nut on the end.

    seems a long cap nut would be ideal

    @Tim, great to see you back in one of my favorite places—Columbia, Missouri. I wish I could have been there to join the fun, and then we all could have went to Booches for burgers (as long as it wasn't Sunday!)

    Saw this on Instagram this morning, little pan to cover the bobbed frame horns and begin the belly pan with a 32 shell. This is similar to what Ive got in mind. IMG_1224.jpeg
