  2. That is a Gratiot T kit… I have one also…
The axle has been upgraded, the car has a dodge box behind the dash, that “ ugly” nose is from Gratiot… Speedway now sells them… the grill was originally plastic , plated to resemble chrome. Check out the flat cowl … to resemble a sprint car… the car also had a roll cage , the hood is flat too, as is the top of the nose.
Have only seen three total in 31 years.

  3. BTW… Atwater Mike could have said this much better than I. Miss that guy

  4. Just Google Gratiot sprint T

  5. I couldn’t have said it better, its not the price that got me but the posts of the wheels being wrong, and the tie rod problem that some perceive as the tip of the iceberg… my track t was like this and now its not… time is most peoples biggest problem… yeah try to build it, while living a normal life.

We have a winner. That Gratiot sprint T kit is absolutely it. Damn, great ID. Thanks for pointing that out. The original orange Gratiot car seems to have sold precious few kits. Would post a pic of it but the Cyclone Wheels by Western Wheels (Fresno) are a no no along with some other details. Definitely it, nose, hood, cowl, body sides. One in the Google links has rear steer chrome tube straight front axle.

Still up FS on Marketplace. Was 17, then 14, currently 13...anyone at 13? j/k

One final question - you know the way to Sanazay?

There's a red one that I've seen at nostalgia drags around Detroit, maybe from Toledo?

A glass 27 body with working well done doors is worth a lot more than the basic Speedway based build .
It's got some good things going on and it's not your basic channeled over the frame build .
I wish I had that body instead of mine.

The car in question looks to have decent paint and interior runs and drives . Few tweaks to make it ones own goes a long ways and a lot of fun long after one thinks they spent a extra grand or so a year or so down road .
As far as building one cheaper sure you likely can. Will you still be fit enough to drive it years later IF you finish it.

I figured I'd have $3500.00 in mine 30 years ago when I dragged someone else's aborted attempt after they realized it wpuld never get done.
If I had paid $15,000 30 years ago ( way to much then) it would have only cost me $500 a year to have had something to enjoy and been still worth $15,000 now .

If it's say $3000 to much in the buyers mind but he likes it what's it worth to buy and enjoy it TODAY and the rest the summer ?? I just rented a UTV in AZ for a week that cost more than the to much it costs tax .
I'd be all over that car at $12,000 if it didn't have major flaws IF I didn't have other cars already.

This is my mess. I have about $5000 in it with a junk engine . I'm a long way from ever driving it. Don't like how it looks. Needs doors now as I'm getting to old to crawl in and out of it .
    Price paint materials lately ??
I'd love to have the car in question with a few make it mine tweaks

  10. The paint and interior really don’t matter when ya don’t like the color.

one thing about a glass car is that you can guarantee that the body is 100% rust free...

Oh yeah I dont mind glass. Ed Roths creations, and T buckets are very cool. Then again I might be in the minority as I'm putting a 4bar and coil overs on my 28 pickup.

Still don't think its a 13k car. lol I would wait, or just go look at it, give him your offer and tell him to think about it. Tell him you want to change stuff. Maybe no ones even come over to look at it. First guy that looked at my track T in person bought it, but plenty of others messaged me and him and hawed. I wouldn't be afraid to start at 7000 in person.

    Good luck OP.

Something is off on the body, Fiberglass, and they didn't have a steel one to pull the mold?
