I just bought a beautiful Standard 2 dr. sedan with the original 221 engine. The previous owner tried hopping the old girl up with a set of Offenhauser heads, Edelbrock 2 carb intake and a pair of Speedway Chinese carbs. The little engine couldn't handle the extra fuel and compression I guess and it Expired. I have a fresh 8BA that I was going to use in a AV8 project. My question is, how do I cool it? The fan on the 221 is hooked to the crank, my 8BA fan is higher up, mounted to the generator bracket. What are you guys using to put the fan where it belongs? I'd appreciate any help!
My '41 pickup came with an 8ba installed and was running and driving. It was adapted to the transmission with a cast adapter ( stamped steel also available) and used the stock '40 clutch linkage. The 8ba carb, distributor and higher fan mount was also used. I may have some pix, which I will post if I do.
That is exactly the set up on my engine, except I have the stock generator which has been converted to 12 volt, was told it wouldn't work because the fan would be to high. Guess ill stick the engine in like that and see what happens! You three guys are the only ones who responded to my question with the same answer, if it works for you it's gotta work for me! Thank you guys!!
My '40 Std Tudor has a 286" 8ba in it with stock trans and rear end. Stork 8ba 6v generator I run narrow belts and a plastic fan on a custom adapter. Dave
