There used to be a rad cap with with an anode in it to reduce galvanic corrosion, any body use it?My engine and heads are aluminum 50/50 coolant and a trickle charger @ times..
Considering what I paid for my bare block alone, I might get a couple of them and change them once a year. You ask, is your car on the road yet, and I say "your kidding right"!
Anode and cathode need to be electrically connected by a wire or direct contact. Just plopping two bits of dissimilar metal in a bucket of water isn’t going to stop the one corroding.
They’re bolted to the metal case, which is an electrical connection. Didn’t say they need to be electrified.
I would say it's connected to the cap which is screwed to the rad. Now if the rad is isolated by rubber mounts the rad is the only thing protected. Phil
What is your radiator made of? If it's aluminum as well along with the block and heads, there shouldn't be any galvanic issues.
I use an anode in my radiator petcock position. After 3 years I decided to replace it, picked up some marine anodes on eBay. So I take the "old" one out, it was still 100% all there. I replaced it anyway.
