Better let my wife know I'm selling the house and driving off into the sunset! Lmao

Edit: i sent that to my mom Mark and she went nuts. "your dad helped work on that car!". They married very young, and mom knows that car as well.... Before we moved to Michigan my folks lived in Toldeo. Dad was a machinist at the gm plant there. Both of my older brothers were actually born in Toledo. We still have family there....

You can always buy another house and find another girl. A one of a kind historic hot rod that placed in the 1961 ISCA points championship doesn't come along every day. Solid advice from a divorced man....

In 2004 I had Thom Taylor do a rendering of 32 Ford lakester with a long front, bobbed rear with a small trunk on the back and slammed on the ground. I have started 2 and sold both the projects to Dale Grau in Minnesota who has finished and driven the wheels off of them. The last one is the closest to the rendering. The Green Hornet. If money was no object I would hire a builder like maybe Roy Brizio to build the car exactly like the rendering. I can dream.

Even if I had dumb money to buy it, at 79 I'd have a hard time getting in & out of a 63 Split Window Vette. Then for more dumb $$$$$ I'd get a 56 Packard Carribean. And I'm supposed to be a Ford guy.......boy am I sick!

haha, look at the title of the thread... "what on topic car would you...." while that 55 may be cool to some, it is far from on topic....

Gotta love that radiant heat. I put it in my shop and will never build another habitable structure without it.

I'd buy Mickey Thompson's Challenger I. Why? Because I have a whiny two X chromosome human living across the street who wants everyone to buy electric cars, lawnmowers, weed trimmers, etc. I'd just park that beast in the driveway and let it idle for a while, maybe blip the throttle of that Pontiac quartet a few times, just because.......

Build something around the 330 Desoto engine that I have out in the shed. Just getting the engine all done would probably cost more than my first house did.
A guy two hours from me has a nice roller aftermarket 32 chassis for an honest price and from there it would be take a number and get in line with the guy 15 miles the other way to have it built.

For the most part... you guys are all spending "dumb money" on some pretty smart investments with the current trend in pricing. And... it's not dumb if it makes you happy.

    this…….in hot rodded form……
probably would need some updates to drive chain including rear wheel drive……..

this one was parked beside it in a local museum, but doesn’t quite have the same ‘wow’ factor for me, so definitely the Cord…….

I'd say that that Deusenberg has more wow factor than 90% of the cars on the road outside of that paint job.
Back in the early 70's we attended either the first or second outdoor car show that we had ever been to in Waco Tx. There was everythign from a Brass T carefully being unloaded from an enclosed trailer towed by a new Cadillac to A Deusenberg pheaton to a few hot rods. The guy in that Green Deusenberg was roaring up and down the street giving people rides and having an absolute blast. And it did roar. We missed out and weren't in the right spot to get a ride but it sure looked like fun.

If I had money to burn, I'd buy a '55 Facel Vega HK500 w/ the Hemi under the hood. They were as big as an American car of the same vintage, but looked twice as bitchin. And it would go fast and sound great.

No, not me, but if I'd have known it would go so low I may have done some shuffling around of my current lineup.... That's crazy.
