I had this old, cheap repop of an older Mobilgas sign that I had bought at a swap-meet a number of years ago.
It had faded out from the UV from the sun. I took a fine line sharpie pen and retraced the fine lines of the horse as good as I could, and then I made some new lines that were thicker, and I then painted the sign with paint, that was made for fabric and not for metal, but because of that, it gives this crazy messy finger paint style, of texture that resembles a 3rd grader technique. I added some holographic foil for the eye of the horse and the other crazy eyes as well.

    Good morning everyone!

This is my submission for this summer's downtown display of art highlighting our town. Oxford, MI is the gravel capital of the world, and this little antique truck is ready to haul! It might take a couple more trips than the gravel trains...

    Hello,

Inspiration from all sorts of topics and photos gave me the itch to draw a pink roadster with flames. After I got the standard Model A roadster down, I asked my wife what color she would choose for the overall car and flames. (I thought she would like the pink roadster with white flames…) At first, she said black for the roadster. Then light purple (Fuchsia) mild flames and only on the motor area.
    upload_2022-6-10_4-25-53.png
She likes flames, since she has been seeing them for a what seemed like a million years. She and our granddaughter always had a laugh when I used to draw flames on a restaurant white paper table cover at a local restaurant. The waitress would come over and do an upside down name and ask what we wanted to order. Then she gave our granddaughter some crayons, and no drawing paper… the table top was the drawing paper.

So, I proceeded to draw some flames, much to the delight of our granddaughter. Now that she is older, she and my wife just laugh at the thought of drawn flames on anything. Ha!

But, throughout the years of seeing me drawing hot rods and flames, she is of the mild flame family and not too much to cover the whole hot rod. She likes pinstripe versions as it shows flames, but in a mellow way. Subtle...

upload_2022-6-10_4-29-13.png HA! So I got carried away and spread a newer Fuchsia color version on the original pink roadster. My version of the full effect of swoopy flames including crossovers and longer claws.

Not as subtle as the original pink roadster with beige/white flames and Fuchsia pinstripes.
Redrawing extended designs of my wife’s Fuchsia flames and the pink original color of the real roadster, in the photo above was a fun project. Inspiration for all sorts of drawings is a fun project.

Building a hot rod is complicated. Art is a pencil, erasers, rulers, paper and computer efficiency patience.
"to each, his own or in this case, her own..."

  16. Happy Friday fellas. I know many here may not be familiar with the rock band White Zombie but I got a request to do this piece from an obvious WZ fan who has a 1965 El Camino gasser. The band did a song years ago called Thunderkiss 65.

The top piece is just white butcher paper that was never intended to be anything more than just a guide piece.
The second piece is a 16"x 16" white canvas piece I just finished, its a tribute to "BARBARA",
the cool mother in law, that passed away on March 22nd at age 84.

Both pieces are being driven down to
Costa Mesa California, to be given to Mike, Barbs Husband at a big memorial gathering of Barbs friends and family.
I had the colored pencil guide piece laminated as a place mat for Mike.
