Well I got roped into going to vlv this weekend and just wanted to see if any of the Hambers are going to be up there as im sure a couple would be. Here's a pic of the Roadster I'm taking, the 29 on the left, see you there or on the road
Isn't one of the guys from the UK coming over with some buddies for Viva and then a Cali road trip in a Van? Dang, I like both of those roadsters a bunch.
Was there in 04, Damn... That was a party, Gold Coast style... An almost got kicked out burn'n the tire's off Stacie W/ie's traditional 30 P/U Pontiac powered... AZ Rattler's
Have fun! it's interesting, 20 years ago and we would have had a dozen threads about VLV and tons of folks going......
my wife and i went to the orleans last nite at 8.00 to eat at big als in the orleans .couldnt find a parking place so we didnt go in.
The car gathering on top of the Gold Coast parking lot was definitely an experience! Those first couple years we wouldn't even bother going inside for the rockabilly cosplay, as we were just there for the cars.
Different times my friends….lots of those folks now have long hair, beards, and look like a David Mann painting and ride Harleys of some sort…or they’re rolling in 70’s Vans.. Those girls with the victory curls and polka dot skirts…now they’re in cut off Levi’s, 70’s concert T shirts and cowboy boots… Like the post above said it was 20 years ago…it went from the 50’s to 70’s…
The pic from the casino may be deceiving but the lot looks half full and very few vendor’s around the side.
Hope to go back again some day and then on to Fremont st in the wee hours . There in 13 for for a great time, Little Richard was cool!
Good thing I did the beard before it became part of the costume! Over that now, but do have long hair Wife loves it. Sold all the Harley stuff as it was getting trendy tho...........the cash was nice and distracted drivers are too damn dangerous anyway! Do kind miss that Shovelhead.
That's true and funny.....back then I looked (and dressed) the same. I had long hair during the height of the revival and now have short hair (what's left), that's pretty much the only difference besides age.....didn't fit in then and don't fit in now. The funny part for me was I really liked all the cars and girls dressed up in the beginning, then later I hated all the "scene" people everywhere.......now I don't see it all around me I like it again. Even when it was big in the early 2000's I saw maybe 1 or 2 cars cruising around when I was driving local (on a weekend nights and zero during the week day commute), so that really hasn't changed.
