What kind of engine is in the car in the foreground? Distributor in front?
Even though it looks like an older car I bet it probably launched better than the 22jr car because the motor looks farther out with more weight on the front end.

    Hello,

Who would have known that in 1959 July issue of the Drag News that these local So Cal racers would have set the records for the Standard 1320 list.
    AA/Gas Dragster record holders

Chrisman Howard Cam Vs Mudersbach Twin SBC

    A/Gas dragster record holder:
    Jones/Mailliard Sidewinder Sound

    B/Gas Dragster record holder:
    Glen Stokey - Reath Automotive

    D/Gas Dragster record holder:
    Tapia Brothers-Hoffman

    :16 some kid in a Pendleton/Levis getting a ringside seat… filmed by James N.

    Jnaki

In reading the old Drag News weekly papers, this fact popped out. The list coordinated with some of the films my brother and I took during the same time period at Lion’s Dragstrip. We had our favorites and there were more films of those drag racers.

History presents itself in the oddest ways or is it coincidence? YRMV

I think the Tony Nancy car is the 426 wedge car stretched as the body is the same. Probably did that when he switched to the hemi

Jim and Allison Lee. In the golden age of drag racing Allison was every bit the tuner that Jim was.

  25. Both are still alive, Jim stays at home, I believe his health is failing him, Allison is amazing, still turning wrenches on her nephew Tyler Hilton's N/TF car.
