Event Coverage Drag Week 2021

  1. You're a helluva ambassador for our hobby man. Can't help but think about reading BobK's thread on the Alaska trip. I look up to both of you, and hope to be able to make such a trip in my lifetime. You're badass man.

  2. Gotta ask, did you have all of your hotels booked before you left the house? I'm serious about joining in next year, and that's one thing me and my wife were wondering.

I had rooms booked for Drag Week right after they announced the dates/places. But then again, a lot of folks drop out, and it seems that the folks who don't get rooms ahead of time usually can find some place to stay.

Driving to/from, I just wing it. No problems this year with finding a place to stay, although twice the first place didn't have room, so I had to go a block away to find one.

I make sure to pay the little bit extra that lets me cancel a day before.

  4. I always book ahead when I travel. Plans can change, but when all goes well, you can show up whenever you want and they will have your room.

You can borrow an emery board and clean up a set of points on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, Can't do that with an electronic ignition.

    Jackknife, small screwdriver...

  7. Jim ,is that 1/2 " aluminum gas line on your car? If it is I'm sure it's well braced and fastened.
I just wanted to make other viewers aware. I've seen trouble with just towing miles..
    Good show, man.

Yeah, it is aluminum. It would probably be a good idea to replace it some time....thanks for the reminder.

  9. "Anyways...finally got rested up a bit". Best part of most trips is getting back home and sleeping in your own bed again that first night. Then the next couple days listening to your body and figuring out you're not as young as you used to be. Great fun watching you on your adventures Jim.

Finally sorted through most of the pics I took. Here's @squirrel at Indy. No need for crowd-pleasing wheelies or showboating burnouts, just leave perfectly straight on the green and run mid 10's. What a ride!

I was able to catch one of your 10 second passes on the live feed. Impressive considering your car really is a driver!

What tires did you go with and do they ride well on the road?

I have new Coker Pro Trac 5.60-15 up front, and old Coker L78-15 rear. They work ok, but the car is a bit squirrely on uneven pavement. I've had radials on it for a little while in the past, it gets better, but not perfect.

I haven't had time yet to write a story, so I'll just post a bunch of pics for now

The two of us lived out of the trunk of the coupe for 5 days. We had to pack carefully

  26. At least you have a trunk. Mine is filled with a radiator; fans and water pump. I cant haul a thing.

that's the main reason I built a "big" car instead of a little one...so I'd have some room.
