I keep a fairly close eye on FB marketplace and elsewhere for Oldsmobiles of the 50s and early 60s. While I certainly think your car is cool, it is neither rare nor particularly desirable so as to garner a premium price tag. Unless the car you have holds a special sentimental value to you that requires that only that car can be fixed, it would be a loss on all fronts to try to fix it. In terms of a 64 Olds, you could find a gorgeous, turn-key car for 25K or less. That's what it would cost to fix maybe 1/3 of that body, without paint, and you still have no drivetrain, glass, interior, suspension, etc. Just go buy a better car.

However, these guys may realize something that you don't (yet) and that's a $45-60 an hour metal guy isn't going to be likely - even a backyard shop guy. All materials are up, from electricity to cut-off wheels, welding gas and so on. A guy could lose $ at $45 an hour on some jobs. And for every guy willing to pay $60 at the top, there are 5 willing to pay $75 and up to get the job done.

But when you spit reality like this to people and they don't want to hear the facts, somehow you're the asshole.
