I was looking at the angle of the single tube where the hairpin attaches to the frame. It appears to be pointing down compared to the overall angle of the hairpin but then the front hairpin is similar. Maybe he built them that way. No hot rod rule says everything must be straight and square. That nerf bar does confuse the issue some.

Bob, I know he built it like that, because the photo was taken the day he fired the engine for the first time. Also, the car had a torque tube, that took all of the load. All in all, pretty nice work for a 20 year old !

Very cool for a 20 year old. Not criticizing, just wondering if it had so much power that it bent them or if they were made that way.

    Hello,

WHAT??? The famous Model A was for sale in 1955 with all of the goodies built in place? No doubt the cost was not posted as it would have been quite high for such a quality build. But, the big question is, WHY?

After reading this early discovery, all was fine. The end result in real time was right in front of me at the 2017 version of the original Lion’s Dragstrip museum at the Price Transfer Automobilia Complex in So Cal. The 29 sedan in all of its cool looks and fabulous paint/details was sitting in what was known as the “Jack Chrisman Corner.”

It was as if time stood still and everything was as it should have been these past 62 years.

This one could possibly be classed as a French built Cadillac, it is a Caddy with a French body, a 1948 Cadillac Saoutchik series 62.[IMG]

Probably one of the many reasons OSHA was created.
Fred did it that way until the day the chain broke and the car fell on him and killed him. I've put a better chain on the lift, now get under there and do your job!

"The Kimpton Resort called Goodland in Goleta, CA has every room and compound now in a 50-60s So Cal vibe with the added touch of a surf oriented rooms and main building. There is even a record player in each beach oriented room, with supplied or able to rent old LP Albums."

"We saw and photographed this Ford Woody as it sat in the entry driveway for all to see and enjoy. Every year when we visit Santa Barbara, we stay at the Kimpton Goodland Resort and see the woody with the adjoining Airstream Trailer as part of the resort compound."

"The Airstream Trailer is a part of customer service. We travelers are welcome to sit inside and spent as much time enjoying how travel used to be back in the very early days. It is a nice place to sit and enjoy a quiet place or read a good book."

    Hello,

Every time we take a road trip up North along the coast, the perfect spot to rest for a few days is the Kimpton Goodland Resort in Goleta, CA. It is a few miles up the coastal freeway from downtown Santa Barbara. If the resorts in Santa Barbara are busy, then this place is so much less hectic and a nice quiet place to spend several days.

We have been here plenty of times and each time, something new is discovered at the resort and the surrounding locales. It is our home away from home. When we were 20 somethings, the location was one of the early Holiday Inn Motel units. Then by the time our son was attending UCSB, it was still the Holiday Inn, just a few blocks away from campus living areas in Isla Vista.

Now, as soon as the pandemic is officially over, (it might be less restrictive, but the pandemic is still going on with the variants... be safe) we will resume or road trips again and stop at the Kimpton Goodland Resort for a couple of days. It just feels like home... The Ford Woody is always parked outside under the entrance portal covering. It just makes the resort look... well like a So Cal resort with all of the amenities one expects. YRMV
