That’s a still shot from Hot Rod Gang and yes, Ashley was in the movie. More importantly the car is the McGee/Hirschberg/ Scritchfield ‘32 Roadster, Scritch got the car into a number of movies and TV appearances.

 

Those valve covers...?.... What engine is this...?...

The other two 32's in the still are the Henderson/Guldahl roadster and the De Filipini/LaMasa roadster.

Look like a IH truck engine.

 

I think that is a Chrysler Corp. Polysphere motor. Not positive at all.
It also resembles an International motor.

 

Lefty's dragster is cool but I can't seem to put a name to the bitchin' blown Olds A/MR in the background.

It does look more like the Polyshere but I have a feeling we haven't found the answer yet as the notches appear more angular on those valve covers then either the IH or the Poly

Safety first! Things like this were acceptable practices for many years. The often unfavorably outcome of this one time accepted practice is why these things are no longer acceptable. Its amazing how quickly we apply todays standards to things from the past. Too many people don't know or understand the reasons why we don't do this stuff anymore, they just know your not suppose to do it.

This is the stuff dreams are made from. There is probably not a guy that saw this picture and wasn't thinking "If only I found that one and could get it...."
