@HowardBartlett would this be something you would buy back and restore?...Obviously there's a direct near lifelong connection and a notable history...It belongs as the Monster it was and obviously had a fairly recent look at daylight...

Thanks for the welcome & nice to meet you :)

Yes I did get a tingle though I have another version of this photo from somewhere else as background on 1 of my other computers (as do my children). I had hardcopies from my mother but they came up missing years ago.

I did a little research and found this info on this particular car. After it was sold it sat at a gas station in downtown Warren, Ohio for at least 2 years (at the Y at Larchmont and Elm Road). Now who knows where she is. Here is a link: http://www.348-409.com/forum/threads/a-fx.39628/page-6

If interested my father's other car was a 1966 Chevelle Seaton's Shaker (with a 396 if I remember correctly). Sadly this has been the best (and only) photo I can find of it so far. https://www.draglist.com/draglist/search.php?q=Howdy+&+Chip+Bartlett+in+1967&search=Search&exact=exact&VIEW=Extended

Quote from Draglist: "Notes: Injected fuel AWB. A&A fiberglass Chevelle parts. After crashing the first Chevelle at Detroit in May (the 1965 car) they built this, and ran it until they debuted the Corvair later in the year. The Chevelle along with the Corvair was sold to Howdy & Chip Bartlett in 1967. Flyin' Phil Elliott believes Heinelt ran an 8.95 with this car. Very plausible. - DD"

If it is fast, cool, or even uncool but different with great tech I probably like it. Whether it is Street (Love North American (my old 98 Trans Am with an add on C5R was built in Canada so I gotta spread the love a bit :), but also appreciate European & enjoy the Tuners as well), track (SCCA license at 18yrs. old - Mid-Ohio), ASA license at 19, & even (a bit of lower level) NASCAR at 20.) Bikes (moto crossed & road raced), Water (helped a buddy with his methanol fresh water hydro. Became fascinated, so a number of years later my boss & I played with offshore racing for a bit).

To be honest money is a bit tight right now as because of the pandemic I'm only getting about 20 to 30% of my normal business. Also the car the OP is talking about is not the same one my father owned.
If we were to do it the children & I would want to recreate my father's. Which would ruin the true history behind this early edition car. Pretty sure I would probably have some folks mad at me. Also would have to make it fully raceable again whether just bracket racing or some kind of nostalgia class.

That said if I could find my father's (Howdy Bartlett's) car instead I'd seriously be thinking about it.

I hope the Hamber that had it in 2017 continued or still has it around...Membership is fluid and virtual and many times Hamb Gold but We all Retire from here some Literally may They/We all Rest in Peace someday...;)...As you can see I've reached out because many times others know each other especially in the race community...Lots of history here and The Hamb Celebrates 1965 and older...Maybe someday you'll own it and run it down the track again...it was Damn Fast...

I was writing this as you were replying this wasn't the Same Corvair it was 1 of 2...

By all means clone your Dads...it's in your blood...Corvairs aren't Deuces...Check out that Thread on Corvairs...But remember Hamb is Specific to 1965 and Before and I think The Corvair of Your Dads squeaks by because the Bodystyle carries over...I believe...Visit some Threads here on Subjects that interest you 65 may be old but it was by no means slow...Enjoy...

Wow I totally forgot about this thread.... Sorry guys. The shaker is still here, really haven't made a lot of progress with it as of yet. We have sourced as close to a period correct as we could find blower motor for the car. Several larger projects and time has kept the car on the back burner for now but it is on the radar before summer is out hopefully.

I read back through the tread, this first version car was sold to the the bartlett's (unless my research has steered me wrong) and the flopper corvair was sold to Joe Petrocelli and Bob Haskett who crashed it beyond repair soon after.

There were only 2 steel quarter/roof corvairs one was pete seaton and the other was the fiberglass trends corvair. (Again as per my extensive research)

The fiberglass trends corvair is still a survivor although it has went through massive updates over time and was last for sale california as a bracket car. I had zero luck in contacting anyone associated with it even struck out trying to get in touch with the last guy that had it up for sale.

    @Stogy & @jmr17x ,

I was looking back at the Draglist entries & noticed that Jay Howell was a driver though Del Heinelt was the regular driver until he left the team in 1967. Started getting excited (and a bit misty eyed to be honest) but figured naaaah to good too be true
What threw me was seeing the the blower (plus not noticing who the drivers were) since I seem to remember the velocity stacks & Hilborn injection, so I figured my father's car must have been a different one.

Then I found entry # 45123 which had the added info that a blower had been installed on the car prior to my father and Uncle Chip buying them (found it last night).

I'd sure love to know where this car was all these yrs. after my father sold it & why in the Sam Hell did it sit in a gas station (at the Y intersection of Larchmont and Elm Road) in Warren, Ohio for at least 2 yrs (in the early 70's). When we went out to Warren we seldom went that way (came in state route 422, took a left on West Market St. to the Hot Dog Shoppe or a round about to the Sunrise Inn for Pizza.)

Here are some photos of the background info that we found: Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 3 photo.jpg Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 3 photo.jpg Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 1 photo.jpg Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 3 photo.jpg Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 1 photo.jpg Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 3 photo.jpg Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 1 photo.jpg Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 2 photo.jpg Bartlett Super Shaker Corvair - Del Heinelt Driving History from Drag List.com Page 2 photo.jpg

Just a couple of more cool photos of a Seaton Super Shaker Corvair. Though other than the flopper I'd love to know how Terry Hedrick fit into the mix. From what we found it appears that he also may have driven it. Terry called it a "Door Slammer" which made me smile from ear to ear. 1 of my favorite things was the old IHRA "Door Slammer" class of drag racing. Also loved the "Classic Street Cars" using a touch of "Modern Tech" but still looking original shatter their previous times. @HowardBartlett thanks for sharing more history on this pretty notable Team and these rock crushing Corvairs...

I must say I am in awe of the know of many here regarding the History of what they revere such as Yourself and JMR

The History exposed here many times because of the years of engagement are worthy of writing a book on these subjects at hand...and many have...

The thing is I manage to get lost in trying to connect it all...

So what I'm thinking is you are confirming due to furthur reaearch JMR has found the remnants of what your Dad acquired many moons ago...

It's a shadow of it's former self now but from a Rustbelt standpoint very restorable...

No matter my confusion I am very happy JMR chimed in and confirmed it's still in line for the love it deserves...

My apologies if I've gotten it wrong but again I can't believe how much is known about the big picture here within the Membership as best as I try to absorb it all...I love the Hamb for these reasons...

My apologies for some reason on my 1st post of the night this crazy message board ran multiple copies of my file attachments. When I go in to edit & clean it up, it clearly ONLY shows 5 attachments as it should. This is a 1st for me since even before the World Wide Web came out. I would hate to have to start the post over but am not sure how to clean it up

If you only knew how many show worthy Hotrod, Customs and all in between end up derilect hulks or worse...there have been many...

Misfortune, Illness, Loss of Interest, Death...all these are potential factors...I have seen many Notable builds here that were ressurections from hulks in fields...as we speak there is a 2nd place AMBR Roadster that was bought a tattered street rod recently and is a build Thread trending here, Norman Timbs Aluminum Tilt Body Streamliner was a hulk in a field and brought back...it was unfortunately lost in the recent Cali Fires...the Kookie T and the Golden Sahara...yeah it happens...

We have several magazine articles that explain the cars transitions from its original configuration stack injection to the blower and all the driver's that had the privilege of driving this beast. Del, Jay, and Terry all drove for Pete at different times in this car. I'll get them organized and posted.

Are you planning to run this Beast down the Track @jmr17x?

That would a be pretty notable showstopper...I re-read the posts...nostalgia type runs only and the like...nothing wrong with that at all...

Honestly I don't see any track letting this car make a pass without major updates in safety equipment and chassis.

That being said I'm still searching high and low for a corvair body and or mold so I can recreate the 2nd super shaker with a modern chassis so I can run it
