Built the battery box for my car trailer's winch. Hopefully I have used the come along to winch a car on the trailer for the last time.

Tomorrow it is go get a load of lumber for my shop.

  2. Spent part of Monday up at the shop stringing wires under the dash; went up there today and stuck some gauges in the holes temporarily and added the sender wires to the harness. A few more wires and I get rid of twistys. Had the door open and a pigeon flew in and perched on the edge and of course shit on the roof of John's car before Mike connected with a radiator hose.

  3. Got my intake from @41rodderz, got a camshaft from @olscrounger, getting about time to pull this little motor apart and get it to the machine shop! Screenshot_20200807-144534_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20200807-144537_Gallery.jpg

Had a small pair of vice grips snap open in my back pocket and wedge themselves in there. Any attempt to pull them out just wedged the in tighter. Had to take my damn pants off to get the bastards out. Moral: always put vice grips in your pocket tail end first.

Been working on getting my clutch and brake pedals where they oughta go. Model A frame is boxed and I modified the F1 crossmember which lowered the rear mount an inch and a half. Shortened the crossover shaft 2 1/2". 20200724_123742.jpg
Pulled the pin out of the pedal shaft mount, reversed the shaft and moved the pedals to the right. Clutch pedal had an 1/8thgap so I made a spacer. Brake pedal is now on the outside of the bracket and the shaft is recessed inside the pedal so I made a shoulder washer that bolts down to the end of the shaft. Center drilled the bolt and added a grease zerk. Drilled a new pin hole through the shaft for the locking pin. 20200807_102719.jpg
Located the ball fitting for the crossover shaft
and it all lines up and works! :) 20200726_085747.jpg

New coil springs, shocks and both upper and lower control arms. Didn't do it all today, but finished today. Now I need to get a front end alignment. The new shock hadn't been installed in this photo. thumbnail (5).jpg

Nothing productive. Listened to the land speed racing at Bonneville (sound could be louder) hung out with the cat. drank Tennessee Whiskey and smoked a cigar.
I did figure out that the cat and I have a big garage clean out project on tap for tomorrow as I couldn't find my hole saw set that I need to use. He considers the garage to be his territory so I hope he is up to the task. IMG_9488.JPG

Cool Kitty. Most aren’t hard workers so he’ll probably sleep while you work on the garage clean up.

  14. Tacked in the front floor hump and fired up my CAD (cardboard aided design) program to build the cover for where the aux. transmission sticks through the floor.

Remarried the body and chassis after about a year separation. It’s all downhill now (right).

Came home after work and sorted through Vette parts. The core support in the car is hacked with a torch to fit a Chevelle radiator...I have two extra core supports that came with the car, one was totally rotten at the bottom but had a good X brace. The other was solid but X brace cut out. Combined the two and now have a cherry core support. BTW Lloyd I was lusting after the TR1X but really wanted a dual quad top:D

  21. Well Mr. Lumpy i can check with one of my buddy's, i think he has a dual carb TR1X in his stash ;) i had been looking for a single carb intake but they all seem to be gone around my part of the country! Then i tripped over that one in the classifieds here. Had planned on 3 deuces but this way is cheaper :D

  22. Where we built stock cars, there were always shop cats around and they would sleep anywhere even during the noise that went on. One was too close to where I was welding and a spark jumped onto him... he was smoldering. He did wake up as I hit him with a handful of water out of the cooling-off bucket.

  23. I figured it was time to check and change the sacrificial anode in my radiator, of course I buy a 5-pack from a marine supply place. Get the old one out, the zinc part still looked like new. Put in a fresh one anyway.

Installed some Moon gages and a tach. The gages didn't come with the light bulb condoms but I used LED's, the tach I believe is lit with LED's and doesn't look like it comes apart easily. I can live with the white light. IMG_2354.JPG IMG_2357.JPG

I’ve been reluctant to put a clamp around the wire tube on my 56... looks like it’s ok

Had a noise on the right front brake. Found a loose attaching cap screw.. cleaned and used a little machine screw purple thread locker.
While I was there I decided to change the gray on the repo American Torque Thrusts to Graphite wheel paint from dupli-color... finished today with the last one. Probably not be that clean again... 7744EBC9-58BF-45E5-A0F1-43D9C5D878EF.jpeg
Yes for all you y-block haters .... that’s a washing machine pan under the engine.

Discovered all kinds of worm holes while opening the wheel wells since the wheel arches were mostly bondo anyway.
