I've been looking for some brackets for my big block Chevy(alternator and power steering), plus crank and water pump pulleys, but used seem to go for crazy money. I've found several aftermarket, but don't know if the quality is any good. Anybody have any experience with aftermarket stuff that they could recommend? I'm using a long water pump set up and want the brackets set up like in the pic.

    Any help appreciated.

My experience with all the aftermarket pulleys and brackets has been dismal. Even when ordering all from the same supplier, I still found the parts didn't ft the engine, or didn't work with each other! I've gotten to the point I prefer to either use factory and have them powder coated locally, or build my own brackets and have them coated. At least I know they'll work.

That's what I was afraid of. Can't seem to find very many reviews for em online :(

  4. Some of the ones I've seen are made of lighter-gauge metal, so I'd worry about them breaking...

Finding OEM for a reasonable price is not working out. Everyone seems to think they are gold

  9. I second the Alan Grove brackets. They might not have exact factory replacements but they are well made and worked perfect on my sbc.

This will take a little while to sort out.
Do you have early heads with 7/16 hole for the alternator? Or later 3/8 IMG_20200623_163601533.jpeg

They are 1988 heads with a 3/8 hole for the alternator.

I have an extra set of PS and Alt brackets I can get to you, still need to pull the spacers and stud off the PS pump.

I'll get pics in a few minutes, it's dinner time right now.

I looked at the AG web page, didn't find an alternator bracket that puts it where the factory did.

I've used their AC brackets a few times, good stuff.

  19. Great looking engine. First thing I noticed was the bare intake side of the head, unpainted per OEM. Solid engine mounts?

That isn't my engine, it is just one I found online that showed the brackets I need.

  21. Are the small block brackets the same. I might have a set of alt brackets if Squirrel doesn't have them.

    I got him set up.

    Small block brackets are different.

    Thanks for the backup :)

I have Bill's hot rod brackets from Speedway Motors on my SBC and although not very traditional looking (I have chrome black might blend in better) the fit it good and the chrome finish is amazing. I feel your pain something as simple as brackets for accessories always drives me nuts.

I have another set of all of them, and a few extra spares of some of them. And no plans right now to get a big block running in any new projects, so I should be ok.

I know that one of the brackets in that box I took a picture of, I got in 1980. Yes, I hoard.
