Picked this up last week and drove it 150 miles home. 53 Belair, 235, 3 on the tree. Bone stock other than being lowered and partially converted to 12 volt. Spent last weekend rewiring and updating the exterior lights. This weekend I plan on fixing the wipers and smoothing out the ride, it's sitting on the bump stops in the rear . Over all the car is in pretty good shape and won't take much to get it right. 20200522_213217.jpeg 20200530_104244.jpeg 20200530_104317.jpeg 20200530_105406.jpeg

    Good for you, Z.
Drove 150 miles home. Obviously runs well. Steering and brakes good, too?
Poor old yellow paint's hangin' on for dear life LOL. Clean her up, maybe some paint, install a dual exhaust... yer stylin'.
    Welcome to the HAMB.

hitting bump stops will ruin more than your body - look at auto parts store for short neoprene type - replace shocks - consider using blocks 1/2" shorter

Thanks everyone!! Lots of great info on here, it's really helping me out. I got it riding better, trimmed the rear bump stops and put on a set of airshocks in case the 67 year old leafs drooped more than desired. Definitely needs some new bushings all around, ordered and that's next weekends project. I've pretty much rewired the whole car minus the insturment cluster, not fun but at least all the wire nuts are gone haha. I've also got a set of Fenton headers on the way, going to hold off installing them though until I get the intake and do it all at once.

Welcome to the Board! Nice car, it is just right for a starting point, I mean that in a good way! If you drove it that far home, it must be dialed in okay. Enjoy it; you're approaching it right, little projects that don't keep it off the road are the way to go- too many times, they end up as garage queen's; torn apart and sitting in the garage because the owner got too deep too fast and got overwhelmed.
Yeah, been there done that! Keep her on the road and have fun!

This isn't my first classic, I've learned my lesson from the first two. Doing only little projects I can get completed on my day off. No point in having a cool car if you can't drive it
