The oiling pathway ends on the left side of the engine near the distributor, where there is a 3/8 pipe plug with a hole drilled in it to oil the distributor gear. Does anyone know FOR SURE what size the hole is?
Thanks again Paul, a picture is worth a thousand words. How did you happen to have that plug handy? Are you an Olds fan?
This thread sent me straight out to the shop to see if my 324 short block has the plug and the plug has the hole. I had the machine shop assemble the short block while I was recovering from heart surgery and although I picked them because of their experience with old engines and their stellar reputation I just had to check. Yep. The plug is there and the hole is in the plug. Whew.
Can’t see that easily because my ancient engine stand has a big flat plate that covers the whole bellhousing but I’ll get a mirror, flip it over and look, thanks. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
