That’s What I say! It’s always fun to tease though! Its all fun and games! Hell I love my Toyota 4.7 V8 so much, I thought why no one has tried that yet, Its Kind of a Hemi! Stick it in a F-1 or F-100! Oh- No I’m gonna get black balled now! Ha!Ha!
The iron heads. The engine was rebuilt already when we got it, ran great In the 40 chassis he bought, but my Pops tore the bottom end to inspect it anyway. Painted all, souped it up, and didn’t want to deal with braking in new heads.
Outstanding,,,,,I plan on using my iron heads as well,,,8CM,,,I assume they are identical to the 8BA . Your engine is a beauty ! I was gonna use aluminum,,,but since the ones I have are perfect,,,,I figured,,,why not,,,save about 800 dollars as well. I’m planning on using a 4 barrel intake as well ,like yours. Tommy
Last time I checked that’s what is about this is about Fun &Games since they kept pulling me over when it was about boobs & beers
Still looking for a firewall to sit real nice behind the flatty. This is a shot form a couple of weeks ago
Putting a Flathead in anything with your Dad is the best reward. Good job and keep the project moving. Our 59A, bored 1/8 with Merc 4" crank, Potvin cam, ported, relieved, Sharp head and 3 X 2 Sharp intake. Cheers
Got some work done so here is an update.I decided not to replace the original firewall $$$. Covering it again with a three piece set with some help from good friend ,he owns a shop with 25+ working, they fabricat a lot of crap for “artists” in NYC. The two seems will be covered with stainless hood trim from a 56 Pontiac. I am going to get them lined up with the heads so it will look like the lines on the head will continue up the fire wall-if it all works out. Also going to get some new master cylinders.Best I can think of is to get the brake and clutch lines inside the car and have the come out up near the master cylinders.Trying to stay in some kind of budget .Going to do the final measurements today put them on to the cardboard and plywood profile and head down to pick out what type metal and finish to use.
Sounds like a nice build on your mill!Trying to keep costs down I having it built with the stock crank and put some money into a new 3/4 cam.I chose this shop in Westhampton Lawrence Race Engine for two reasons he built a flathead last year with a Tom Roberts blower kit last year and he will break properly it in and it will have a Dyno sheet.
I have a trigger word alert set in my profile for key words pertaining to "boobs and alcohol", Let me say I was disappointed with your post and lack of photos. On topic, nice work on the 34, please keep posting.
Why cover up the nice original firewall? Just patch the small cut out area. The money's in the Henry Ford stuff.
X2 Looks like an easy job to just repair the area around the middle with a donor from a '35 truck or have a good sheet metal guy make the patch, the original beads and shape is just beautiful on '33-'34 Fords.
Trying to be nice, the last one looked like it was put in in a hurry. It was put in in one piece so all the way around the top and down the sides on the “shelf”it was between 3/8” to 1/2+” shy I could go on but i think you get the idea.
I thought about that, got a few replies on the want adds for one here but 500 for a complete wall with as many small holes as mine has was a little more than I wanted to spend on a patch. I thinking now to use some aluminum I have give it a brush look it and put it in in three pieces.I will try and get the seems on center with the heads and use some 56 Pontiac Chieftian hood strips, they are ribed paint them to match the head color and rub off them off leaving the ribs to match the fins on the aluminum heads. Going to try that if it really looks like crap I might go the $500 patch route.
sorry but I don’t, the rest of the firewall looks fine except the center looks like an easy fix to me , I don’t understand doing the whole firewall because of that little section
I'd work on the firewall you have; it goes well with your plans of flathead replacement. Back to traditional hot rod.
Ha! The fire-wall looks better already! That flat head will do just fine in that car! Out with the street rod, in with the Hot Rod! Excellent decision!
After reading some the posts here I gave it some thought and called up a old friend who is good with sheet metal and we kept coming back to what alchemy, algoma56 and a few other suggestions here and work with what Henry gave us.Clo I will send you a message about your firewall in the post above, I would like to use it. For now it’s back to my favorite electric wiring for this swap!
i think what them chevy guys are trying to tell you is How can this be done when there are no pete and jake instructions in the box. you would be so far ahead by using that firewall clo is offering.
why would a guy waste a whole nother firewall when the only little spot to repair is mostly flat ?, honestly if a person can’t repair what’s there, putting in a whole new one is going to be above their head and marginal results would probably be had
I agree fix the firewall you have and use original pedals. I have a super nice set of pedals and a master cylinder bracket that goes with the original pedals if interested. View attachment 4573823
