Depending on the situation, tire speed can be good or bad. There are many remedies. Talk to a driver.

I'd rather talk to the pro's, which I actually have (one Pro Stock, one Comp Elim.), plus my friends car.
Tire speed (vs. the ground) is a good thing, no matter the car.
Just don't get carried away with too much of it.

Doesn't work well at El Mirage.

    Oh, you're talking about tires.

Yes it is, Merek and I trade stories on FB..He did take the helm of the Ramchargers cars after Ed left drag racing... that was a premier ride, and a testament to Merek's driving skills.

Johnny, those were the days for our small group, just a few places to be able to run. That shot of Jack, looks like Redding, when he raced Jr. Thompson's Prefect, with Tommy at the wheel ! Still miss T.W.

Marty I bet you do miss Tom, he was always nice and polite to us 20 something know nothings when asking questions about that truck. I seem to remember a stockish 34 to 36 Willys truck being used for a tow rig? It was a delight to see the Bizio truck running and running very well at Bakersfield a couple years back. Here's a photo of another car I remember from those Seattle races. I think the same fella still owns it. Well lunch break is over back to the shop.

No problem Dave and Thank You for asking. I posted it there awhile back but it's a shot that never gets old.

Gary Egbert in the Egbert and Seaman car out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Gary later drove a turbo/nitro top fuel car owned by Gale Banks and Ron Hodgson.

More Canadian stuff. K & L were out of Calgary, Alberta. Here they are racing the Royal Canadian at Shepard Raceway in Calgary.

Ron Rivero in the K & G Speed Associates top fueller. This was a demonstration deal at an air force base. Here is Ron's description of what went down:
"Well it's raining so they decided to do this in a hanger. The plan is to push to start the car in the hanger and then out in the rain and make the turn and back to hanger and do a burn out. Here's the thing, on both sides of the hanger are war planes and the troops, and outside the hanger more war planes. So after the burn out I'll be going pretty fast so going to stop with wet tires as it's still raining ought to fun .It turned to SHIT real fast, the car spun 180 and ended looking right at the hanger. So drove it back to the middle of the hanger, whacked it and shut her off. I got out of the car and the people thought I did the spin on purpose soooooooo I went with it, aren't I good or what!!"

Looks like Jess Van Deventer and if it is 1963 that was the last time that he raced at Indy before retiring from the sport. He won Best Engineered and class honors at Indy in 1961 and took class again the following year. He was also the NHRA points champion in 1962. He was inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2015 and passed away last August at 81.
