Two street roadsters leave the Paradise Mesa starting line.

Don Waite's roadster in the Pomona pits...injected Desoto powered. As Dean Lowe has noted earlier, Don built the roadster for the lakes/Bonneville, but when the SCTA dislikes his streamlining, he took the car drag racing.

The Weeks & Noble roadster on the scales. The car was once owned by Paul Silva, and ran an Ardun. It has been found and returned to the Silva model.

The engine in the Granzer, Palmquist, and Weeks roadster. A Drag News article described the induction as a "metered leak."

Most Willys sedans ran in the gas class, but here is one in the altered class. It looks like the engine has been moved back the appropriate amount -- 25% of the wheelbase.

Jere Alhadeff (RIP) shot of John Mulligan taken from the bridge at Riverside. This is the Adams, Warye and Mulligan car that pre dated the more well know Fighting Irish car.

I am guessing that would be Wes Cerney who was most likely still at Engle cams at that time.

Ackers Automotive is still in Lancaster, Ohio but they are now on Columbus- Lancaster Road and deal in motorcycles and recreational vehicles. This was Paul Ackers' second race car following a 32 Ford coupe that ran C/A. This car ran 9.50 at 159 mph on the run pictured and had the distinction of being the first car to make a pass at National Trail Raceway when that track opened. It was also the third car to make a pass at Bristol.
Paul raced the T for about 10 years and is still active with hot cars as one of his street toys is a 75 Monza with a 383 crate motor and one of the rear ends out of the altered.
Edit: I forgot to add that the car in the other lane is the Otie's Automotive T.

Phil and Martha Lippard ran a series of alterds with a variety of drivers and car names out of Silver Springs, MD. As well as this "Mean as Hell" roadster they also raced a Fiat and a Bantam with the constant factor seeming to be an injected 488" big block Chevy on both gas and fuel. Drivers included Bill "Pudge" Tarbet in this car and a Fiat with the same name. Mark Emery drove the Wild Rat Fiat, Don Settle drove the Stone Crude as both a T and a Bantam and Dave Christensen also drove the Bantam.
As late as 2012 they were still active although now racing out of Tennessee with a new Wild Rat Fiat driven by their son Greg.
