Getting tired of changing relays and switches for the electric fan in the red 32 car. So, I’m thinking of running the zips set up. Anyone have the dimensions for it? I don’t want to tear everything apart and order the new stuff only to find out I don’t have the clearance. Thanks in advance. -Ron
It moves your mech fan up 5" if that helps any. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Zips-SBC-Small-Block-Chevy-V8-Water-Pump-Riser-Kit,58831.html Some notes and dimensions from this site
Snow White LTD. also makes a riser and theirs uses a Buick Opel Waterpump for more clearance http://www.snowwhiteltd.com/PDF/RiserWP.pdf
Thanks for this. I guess what I really need is the depth of the adapter and the pump together. Meaning, if you drew a tape from the mounting surface of the adapter where it bolts to the block to the end of the water pump where the fan bolts up, what’s the total depth?
I actually have the electric fan working properly now but the other day I picked my son up from school and forgot to switch the fan on after I started the car. Drove all the way back to the house without it on and when I pulled up the needle was just touching the red. I flipped it on and the motor cooled right off but I’m done messing with it. I’m going to look at those as well. The thing I like about the Snow White is I think I can use my existing alternator and compressor brackets. It’d be nice just to leave that stuff alone if I could.
From the block to FRONT of water pulley is 5 11/16. Its 6 1/16" to the very end if the pilot shaft. Mine is the early cast iron one, dont know is the ones made today are different. Sent from my SM-G900P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Excellent! Thanks for the help. I think I may as well. Looks like the 6cyl pump has less depth. Hope it works out that way for me.
The car has AC and trying to get everything wired up so the relays to cut on and off with the AC seemed like to big of a pain. But, if you’ve got some ideas I’ll listen. Shoot me a PM...
Best and easiest fan control on the market-(imho)-https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Spee...ntrol-Module-for-Mechanical-Gauges,39925.html
sbc zips w/6 cyl water pump dimensions = sbc w/short water pump dimensions (same distance from block to fan mounting surface)
^^^ Good to know. Thanks. What model number fan are y’all using with zips set up? Do you run a fan clutch too?
I put one on my 32 sedan last year. Should have done it decades ago. Most any GM fan will work . It all depends on your application. I used a 7 blade 18" diameter GM truck clutch fan cut down to 16". Never has ran over 170 yet Sent from my SM-G955U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
