Heart Like a Wheel.... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...Wheel_(film)&usg=AOvVaw2PO7wSKLJ-yqkHfihNIBI1
i cant say that i love it but i can only watch american graffiti so many times haha, so ive resorted to movies like this and last american hero and all the b&w ones like the thunder kids and hot rod (1950) the choppers etc... oregon has some seriously poopoo weather
I'm not going to complain about "Heart Like A Wheel". It has quality actors, isn't a soap opera and has a basis in reality. I'll take it over "Snake & Mongoose", which was really a cheesy movie, as are most car related films.
I had to go back and double check when this thread got its start ... I first thought it must be a old one that got rekindled or something then I saw its new....wow that thing has been out forever , I realize it was a low level move but I do remember it being advertised alot when it first came out.... I suppose next your going to say you have never seen Chitti Chitti Bang Bang either...... I just watched it a couple weekends back..for maybe around the 50th time in my life....hay it was a cold shitty rainy day outside and yes I also live in Oregon........ im 30, i HAVE seen chitty chitty but the chances of a 30 yr old guy having seen a b list movie from before he was born unless by a fluke are slim. plus its not on any of the car movie lists ive searched. yeah i hate the rain
Rented the VHS copy back when the video rental stores were in fashion. Enjoyed it for what it was. Wasn’t a A list movie but was a lot better than a lot of the dreck out there.
~ 1982? The night shot of the funny car fire is memorable. Must say, Anthony Hopkins as Bert Munroe in the "World's Fastest Indian" is a fav.
Is that the one where the broad and her husband have a gas station and an SBC powered rail. Then she runs off with a dude with a better line of crap and he makes her famous?
He was but I was not going to out him. My world is a little different than most of these guys you just don't run off with another man's woman I don't care how good she drives.
I believe there was a custom Mercury in the movie also....seems like it was kind of a odd looking one ..speaking of Mercs there was the one in Cobra that seemed to be able to fly I think that one was done before they started doing CGI so they had to actually jump a real car usually destroying a few before getting the right shot... The movie tells a somewhat true story. In the movie one of the guys that signed for her license was a short round guy. In real life he was Pancho Rendon. I got to be a friend of Pancho's in the early 2000's. Pancho was a partner with Dick La Haie in the La Haie and Rendon top fuel car. Pancho was also a partner with Tom Prock in the Detroit Tiger funny car. Tom Prock is the father of Jimmy Prock, who is the crew chief on Robert Hight's funny car.
