What would be a better trans for bracket racing a power glide or th350?

  2. What car? How much does it weigh? What engine? Rear gears? 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile?

Used powerglides and converters are everywhere if your on a budget, less drag than a 350, and simple to rebuild yourself.

Just look at what all the other bracket racers are using; Powerglide by far, even in makes not originally designed for them. Now, Race City, N.C. or Florida? I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

There has to be at least 1 odd ball answer in every thread

The reason I ask is cause I’m planning on turning my nova into a drag car with a healthy sbc, a beefed up 10 bolt. Just weighing the options with the two trans I have

  7. 1/8th or 1/4 mile? For the 1/8th with a light car I'd go with a built up Glide.

Well 99.9% of bracket and top sportsman cars are running some type of glide based trans and either 9" or Dana 60.

  10. Shouldn't be over 3000 lbs. ,so yeah , if you're serious about bracket racing, a PG with an air shifter is what you need.
You're talking 10 bolt, so I'm guessing you don't want a t-brake at this point, so maybe low 12's?
Doesn't sound like much fun to me , but good luck with it.

Help a friend now and then with a chevelle. It had a turbo 400 but went to a glide with trans brake etc.
Picked up a couple of tenths-best run is 8.18 at 158 in 1/4-5.10 in 1/8th

Bracket racing is all about building consistent car. you got only one shift to screw up on a glide.
If it is a drag car only, put a high stall converter in.
