Better than Tornadoes that's what graced our first day of fall near Ottawa...pretty friggen nasty one...I was fortunate.

Some careful measuring allowed me to shorten my midnight black lockar locking transmission dipstick.
Then I mounted it to the firewall and also installed my radiator support rods.

 

I just saw the results of the tornado on the evening news.
Thankfully no loss of life. Lots of homes damaged and destroyed.
Scary event.

 

My Cousin lives in a small town (Calabogie) near there and one block away roofs were off trees, poles, and wires were down...perhaps where the big one warmed up or a Microburst...but yeah powerful stuff...nowhere are we immune to mother nature...

Hey @Blue One is your Tranny Dipstick and tube flexible?...Mine is attached to the Bellhousing to block (GM) and rocks with the motor. I'm gathering your motor and tranny mounts are fairly rigid...or it would bend or stress that filler tube...Hotrods really coming together nicely...

yes it’s flexible, braided stainless tube covered with braided black nylon cover.

There is a little room for movement although yes my mounts are pretty rigid.

 

Roadster is looking good as it gets together.
I had to combine two hoses to make the upper hose on my '47. To be less obvious, I used a couple of the shrink clamps at the splice; hope they work as advertised.

 

Interesting, not sure I’ve ever seen them before.
I wonder how well they work.

 

Today I painted the inside of my tail light housings bright white.
Then I picked up some halogen Sylvania 1157 bulbs and installed the new glass lenses.

So now I’ll have some LED 37 tail lights for sale .
They turned out nice, much better than the LEDs.

No need for LEDs when they light up like that!

 

The white paint inside the housings makes a big difference along with the silverstar bulbs.
The LEDs were dim in comparison.

 

Those look really bright. Thanks for the great tip. Would silver or some of the "chrome" paints work? Just thinking of the old bulb headlights with the nickel plated reflectors.

 

White is suppose to be brighter than silver or the chrome paint.

 

It’s difficult to photograph something like lights when they’re lit up in the dark like that.
Most cameras will seem to gather light and make it look brighter.

While this happened somewhat here the lights are plenty bright in real life.
The white made a big difference.

Yes I believe it is.

 

Yeah I want to say there was a big post on silver vs white a long time ago and white always seems to win.

Those look great! I'm glad you were able to find a great alternative to the LED's

Real bulbs just "seem" right on a build like this

So, today I installed my grille shell along with the stainless mesh insert I had made for it.
That along with the OTB guide headlights and the crossover bar I built and had chromed, also bolted on my YBlock emblem.

I wired in the headlights and the park lights and turn signals and installed the wires through black OTB looms to the bottom corners of the grille shell.

The headlights are Silverstar halogen.

Looks even more like a hot rod now.

Just plugging away before turkey dinner.

Installed the throttle linkage and the pedal.

An important part of that is the double return springs.

The way you have fitted it all together especially the headlights-headlight bar-shocks gives it a compact and stout look. It is so well thought out,WOW!
