Here are some pictures of my new projekt a 1946 Buick Sedanette Roadmaster. The body isnt to bad and its almost complete. The car will be fixed up for regestration first and the customised bit for bit in the traditional style.
Looks fantastic, 'C' bodied Buick 50 or 70? Very similar to the OEM 2 tone colour scheme on my 46 Olds sedanette; pawnee beige over new ivory. Is that original paint as I can't see that colour scheme on the Buick chips? Future plans are?
Hi. Its a 76 model. The paint and interior isnt original it had been repolstered in the colors of the paint. I think buick didnt have these colours as an option. The car came original in black. Plans are getting it fixed for registration and fixing it up bit for bit and customising it in traditianal style.
That should make a very Kool ride....I had a 47 Roadmaster convertible they are rare and make an interesting ride. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I havent had a ride in it yet. I had a1958 Buick Super but I can amagine that the 40s modells have a different ride.
The pictures are as I colected the car. Car is washed and looks better (from the distance). The brakes need to be be rebuilt , parts came in yesterday. We had the engine running for a short time before the carb started to leak., ran good and smooth as it should(my first straight8). Electrics need to be repaired and small stuff. Need new wheels. I cant make up desissions wich ones to take. At the momet there are old 8.20 mounted. I mesured the rim size and it came to 6.5x15 so I think the rims came from a 49 model. At the moment Im thinking of mounting some G78x15 wich have a total diameter of 27.6 to the original 7.10 wich have 27.98 and 28.88 but I cant find a decent picture of this car with G78 mounted. I had mounted a L78 which is far to big for the look to the car.
For sure!!! In case you missed it, here is a good thread on the chop. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...a-1947-buick-sedanette-in-two-minutes.643541/
Thanks, It looks so cool. Do you have any idea what size of wheel he could be running? They look like 7.10 or 8.20
Maybe this thread (from Rikster) will be of some help. https://www.customcarchronicle.com/forums/topic/white-wall-tires-which-one-to-choose/
Some new pictures. I cut out the trunk floor and will be building it new and instal a other gas tank with the filling from the inside of the trunk. Interior has been dissambled complete and for good the floor pans are in good shape.
Some new pictures of progress I did. Cut out the inner and outer rocker panel. It had been fixed bevor but the sheet metal parts had been welded over the old rusty metal. So cut everything out and build new parts with fresh metal.
The door was fixed bevor and the mesurment of the door woren't the same as on the driver side. Luckily the driver door wasn't fixed and I was able to take the mesurments of it. To fabricate the new rocker panel I wanted the door to sit in propebly and not build the rocker to fit the misswelded door. So build a new floor part for the passenger door. Next step is to rebuild the bottom outer skin of the passenger door.
I had to do very similar work to the rocker panels on my 47 Olds coupe. It was a lot of work and I took lots of measurements first. I used rocker panels from Chevs of the 40's, as they are the same as my Olds panels fortunately. Not sure about the Buick though.
Looking forward to more pics. I have a '47 56S and a '47 56C, Sedanette and Convertible, stashed away waiting patiently so the work you do may be the work I have to do. Good luck...
Yes the 15" came in 47. I have 15" on now with 8.20 tyres. This car needs big tyres. As I bought it it had 6.70 on they looked way to small.
As soon the front edge of the door is finished it can be installed back to the car. Then the rockers can be built. The fade away parts will be welded to the door when the front fenders are bolted back to the car to line them up
Progress of the passenger door. Door is mounted and fits in good. Next step is rebuild the lower part of the A pillar to then fabricate the inner rocker panel an floor part.
Got a bit further. Took ages of mesurments and bending to get the inner rocker panel and the top rocker part in to match the door conture. At least there is a nice 10mm gap between them.
