  1. Gasket should center that up nicely. It's fairly substantial. The center post not being there is making the top hoop sag and probably exaggerate what you're seeing.

Is there someone making new wood body blocks for the 38-39 cabs? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving. Bob

  3. Been a while . I either got them from Macs or Bob Drake . Seems like I replaced mine with rubber though .

I believe that the center bar is a separate piece that locates with the windshield rubber.

If anyone is in the market for a 38/39 pickup project I have mine up for sale in the classifieds. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma last month and need to focus on beating cancer.. I have spent the last 4 years gathering parts. If you don't need the engine/transmission I will take 1200.00 off the 7500.00 I have in parts and title

Is there a good repo or other off the shelf battery box that will work well on a 38-39 cab? Bob Drake offers one that is power coated, but I'm not into that crap, or the time/cost to remove it. Merry Christmas! Bob DSCF6063.JPG

Can someone tell me what the differences are between the 1/2 ton and 1 ton rear fenders? Trying to figure out if I can modify the 1/2 tons to fit my tonner.

I have a '38 tonner that I'm in the final stages of restoring to stock and I did some research on this recently. The half ton rear fenders are about 3 inches wider from the bed outward since the half ton bed does not have tubbed wheel wells like the tonner. Also, the fenders on a half ton are not as wide front to back as those on the tonner which has 17" wheels. I suspect that there is also a height difference. The tonner steel is also a heavier gauge.

OK... we have all seen "60" and "85" badges. I have a set of "95" badges. The only other one I have ever seen is in the photo below. Open for correction here, but I can't think of ANY other Ford script that rates HP. Question: What did Henry do to get the extra ponies? 20. The 95 was a '39 Metc engine offered as an option in '39 big trucks (1 1/2 and 2 ton).

Here’s my 38 Pickup I just got beginning of December. Chassis and engine had been rebuilt about 15 years ago. Unfortunately water has got down a couple of the bores of the engine. I only paid $1000 for it. Week after I bought it a running 8BA Flathead came up for sale so bought it. I’m collecting all the parts for it at the moment.

Looks like a good deal. I'm new to 38-39 Ford trucks, are the rear bumpers a factory option or something someone adapted? Bob

They look like factory bumpers to me. Just like mine but yours are in a lot better shape. Welcome to club! Ive owned mine for two years now and havent even touched it. I hope to get around to it soon.

Any idea where to find that center trim piece for the 1939 ford pickup grille?

It turns out that finding the center trim on its own is very difficult (I've been looking everywhere for a few years), so I found a place that makes 1-1/4" low-profile solid stainless half round, which I'm going to use for the grille trim until I find an original.

    https://www.mcmillanrodandcustom.com/

I called them last week and they said that they'd bend it on a slip roller to a template I'd provide and install studs as well. I'll post pictures when I get it and put it on. It might look a little funny without a crank hole, and I'm not 100% sure if the profile will look right either, but I guess there's only one way to find out.

  29. Get the studs installed . I bought some pieces from them and they were perfect but hard to tap . Live and learn .
