Here's the seat. It's virtually mint condition. It's from a 1950s Lloyd station wagon.

  2. Can't wait to see what you end up with for the adapter! I may need to do something similar on my sprinter.

I decided to take the suicide element out of the suicide front end. Just in case I have a perch or spring failure.
I extended the rails out over the front axle and fitted 1932 front bump stops.
It'll be hidden by the radiator anyway.[IMG]

Update on the water pump. I finished the adapter today. Fitted it together with the 36 water pump and mounted the 6V alternator.
I found a cut and modified 59A-B upper water hose works as a bottom hose to 5he T radiator. Still looking for a top hose which will fit.

I chose a small Bosch battery and mounted it under the seat. It wasn't the cheapest battery by far but I figured it'd last longer and survive winter storage better. 20180427_160629.jpg

Roll out in the sun. Almost finished now. I reckon there's about 5 days work left until I can test drive it. Fingers crossed everything works! 20180427_165237.jpg 20180427_165346.jpg

This is how the header ended up. Different that's for sure. 20180427_165316.jpg

I fitted a NOS dimmer switch in the firewall. I don't know what it's from but it looks good and works. 20180427_165329.jpg

The fuel pump works and is a 12V so that forced the last minute change to 12V. I emptied out the insides from the 6V coil and inserted a modern 12V coil in it so I still have the finned container. 20180427_165339.jpg

Lloyd station wagon rear folding seat. The base folds forward to access the battery and tool tray. The back folds down to protect the seat from rain.
I also fitted lap belts as these are a requirement for some events. 20180427_165354.jpg

  11. Edward- this is a fantastic build. Museum quality, I'll never look at a battered , 20 year old Ford Escort wagon the same way again. I want to build one like yours! (The header is a whole thread worthy topic by itself, I realize it's because you made the car right hand drive. ) Based upon your experience here, do you think this technique could apply to a larger build like a 32 Ford coupe, or would you make some parts and buy used doors and cowl for a bigger project like that?

What is the one missing front shock current status? Any leads?

I sent three shocks off to Apple Hydraulics in NY hoping they can build me a pair. I'm still waiting for their reply.

The cheap route to a 32 5W is to find a Fordor body and fit repro parts.

The shapes of 32-34 Ford's are so well know and so perfect that getting close isn't good enough.

Many T-buckets were built using other makes. Cars all looked similar then anyway and some jalopy builds were mixed and matched. That's why it works on a pre-30 cars.

The Ford Fiesta hood can be used to make an open bucket for almost any early cowl. Lots of orphan cowls on the market.

I've been working on the T all week but nothing much to photograph.
Today I made up new brake rods and fitted the entire brake rod system. Now I have really good brakes and parking brake.
The floor got covered with a Model-T universal floor mat with the "Ford" script.
I'm hoping to fit the Model-A fan to the '36 V8 water pump tomorrow.

I dismantled the new 36 water pump. It's got a special heavy duty bearing on the shaft which I can't get off with my press. I don't know if it's removable at all. So I'm going to take it to an engineering firm to ask them if they can do it.
I also destroyed the spring and seal removing it the wrong way so I'm going to have to order another pump. If it doesn't work I'll need the new pump anyway. 20180503_124206.jpg

I also reversed the front spring mount U bars because of clearance issues with the tie rod. It didn't hit the nuts but would if the spring was compressed and you were steering at the same time. Now I have enough clearance in any case.
Next up - making a new lower bracket for the alternator to lift it up 1" to give clearance to my lower water hose. 1525344361416.jpg

Finished up the electrics this evening and tested all the lights and stuff. Lights, blinkers, 4-ways, brake lights, dimmer and electric fuel pump all work. I was surprised the flasher unit worked as I have LEDs up front.
Also attending to 100s of small things, like split pins everywhere, greasing all grease nipples, checking everything is properly bolted down.
Oh and it turns over on the starter too! Still need to get this water pump / fan issue fixed before it'll drive though.
I can't wait to drive it now.

The fuel pump sounds like a machine gun. Mounted right there on the firewall it sure is noisy. Hopefully it'll quieten down with fuel pressure in it.

Mine, in my tudor, does too- has been for 9 years now. Need some rubber mounts, I guess.

I like the small thick rimmed Model T steering wheel. This is an early wood rimmed one. 20180507_140606.jpg

Unfortunately the look at the front is going to be spoiled a bit by the license plate. 20180507_140645.jpg

Detail photos of the brake rods. The brakes are 1932 but the cross bar is Model-A lowered 1" to clear the lowered drivetrain. 20180507_140656.jpg 20180507_140728.jpg

I spent the rest of the day making the hardboard interior panels. I've got some original leather interior door cards and kick panel leather from a 1932 Deusenberg J which I'll be using to make the interior out of. Photos later.

Do you plan to run a fan? I'm doing something similar and I've about decided not to run one...thanks.
