    Going by the tail number, this was Curtiss C-46A serial 44-77567. The date was March 20, 1945, and the accident was listed as "CBLEF" (Crash, belly landing, engine failure). Location was "10 miles north of Chicago", so this is probably adjacent to what is now O'Hare Field. (per aviationarchaeology.com)

    It was owned by Ray Koch a Harley dealer in Denver. It was raced both blown and n/a on the ovals in the central states and at the PP hillclimb in the late 50s early 60s. Earl Kouba was often the driver.

    Let's see more of this one! Windshield looks like '55-'56 Dodge or Plymouth; that framework must have been very strong but very heavy. Was it skinned with metal or fiberglass, and where is it now?
