Funny how some pictures can have a strange effect on me. This is one of those pics-I copied it to my desktop so I can appreciate a while before filing it away. The car is so understated in appearance but strikes a great pose under acceleration. I think it was seeing these early Vettes do this "back in the day" that hooked me in the first place. I also note that there is another early Vette in behind the grandstands-maybe Wife Trouble, since that is the home track I believe. Looks like the bulky wheelie bars under the car and wonder how high it would go without them. Also looks like it may be early70s without the up stance and probably a rake (since he has the shackles reversed for the bigger tires). Super cool pic IMO.
Yep, it isn't a bad photo at all. As a matter of fact, I'd generally rather look at the pics of the fans as opposed to professional shots. There's just something about these personal photos that are kool to me. I seldom download them for myself, though. Yes, many times these pics can be enjoyed with out the "billboards" on them, and I'd never pass them off as my own.
I like it, the wheelie bars help it get through the hanging second gear without the see saw effect. Saves the headers, oil pan too!
I wondered about that but had never seen a picture without some lettering. I also can see another red early Vette in the background (over the trunk lid behind the bleachers) and wondered if that was Wife Trouble. Whatever it is a great looking car with a great launch.
OK more from the same strip. Hard to see but COULD be a small Wife above TROUBLE Before vs 55 Gasser Note wheelie bars and shackles Late vs HJ
^^^^^^^^^^^^ I think that is Joel Rosen from Motion performance with Astoria Chas. Ko-motion vette when it was brand new. Pat
I see the blue with white cove 56/57 posted above is a new car in the Southeast Gassers this year. Anyone know the story on this new build?
I believe the metal flake coupe that loveoftiki posted is the newest version of the old Astroid show car from the 60’s.
