Clicking the wire setting on my welder...... thinking “should I ship it to him as some form of motivation?”

I...um...got distracted and picked up some more things that aren't Plymouth related...

I'm sure it's just a phase, I'll be back on the hotrod really soon...

Did you know bikes have way less parts than a car? It's like building grownup legos!

Well guys, gotta admit - a harley apart on the bench pretty much does fall under the premise "how not to build a hot rod." Johnny's square on topic here. shame really :(

  6. Don't hit any of that with a hammer.

Really strange , why to people shorten hammer handles ? Isnt leverage figured into to the finish line when using a hammer . I was helping my Dad build something many years ago , using a claw hammer to drive nails . He stands there watching me and asks , “ want to saw the handle down shorter for you ? Would make it easier for your Mom to carry when she is using it later !” After that I think I understood handle length design on a hammer .

    Johnny,
Wow, I love the step by step, it’s like legos with the grandkids except the hammer is missing.

10 years to get my car on the road, enjoy it and rip it apart to “improve” it, still apart.

Dig the shovel and the rambler. R2 in the coupe, well that’s just bitchen. Not much of an FX guy, more like a bare FLH kind of guy and your right, bikes can be cheaper and quicker.

I’m gonna hit the swap meet this spring looking to update my arsenal of hammers and see if I can hone my skills for a more “finished” product. I don’t expect anything like your car but back together and on the road will be fine.

My hats off to you brother.

Keep your shirt tail away from the lead screw and that hammer away from the chuck jaws when that lathe is running! If not, you could learn to break dance and lose some teeth in the process!

Pricey too! Did an FLH engine for a friend years ago, thinking "two cylinders, how expensive can it be?" Holy crap, it was more expensive than rebuilding an sbc! Maybe I didn't use the right hammers...

I have gone out a purchased an array of hammers thanks to this thread. Claw, pein, cross, club, sledge, rubber, composite, joiners, bumping, grind, wide dome, long dome, dressing, pick, finishing, high cross, and shrinking. I now feel ready for something.

So I got my hammers and also have a 33 Plymouth body(not using the frame). Following along and just waiting for you to finish this thing so I don`t have to repeat steps like you did. Scan0607.jpg

not to get off topic, but I think that is a 327 (maybe smaller/older) between those old frame rails. That looks like a road draft tube on top of the block, and a chevy alternator out front

I know the Depression was in full swing in 1933 but the cost cutting one hinge door didn't go over well. Bob

    Ok.

This kinda ties into Step #1. The ex-girlfriend's dad is a bit of a crazy person. Totally into cars. Lives in a bus. Talks to Leonard Nimoy through the TV. Well...used to, I guess... 'ol Leonard isn't so talkative lately... He and I get along swimmingly, at least when he takes a shower.

Girlfriend's Dad calls himself Thor. He has called himself Thor for at least 35 years. His own daughter calls him Thor. So there's that.

Anyway. If a 300 lb. dude named Thor insists you have a "Thor" hammer in your garage, you just do it.

    That's why I have a hammer with a sawed-off handle.

Now you can take on the world. Mountains will bow to your hammer superiority .

Three times at a minimum, really. The first two times are just practice.

Do you have special hammers? I've got one that showed up one day, haven't got a clue were it came from, someone said it was a "Blacksmith" hammer, handle is a bit longer than normal, but what is normal? I decided to straighten out all the sub rails on the '30 Roadster one day so new cross rails could be installed. All I had to do was swing the hammer and all the dents and misaligned sections disappeared, the hammer understood what I wanted, it was a very good day. Bob
