Disassembly is starting this weekend, and the task of sourcing the correct parts to put it back as it was when Jay dropped the first Blower motor in her.

It's definitely seen better days and is somewhat neglected. I can see it finished with some polished aluminum sheets.
7.34 @ 198.79 in a Corvair. Did it start as this and then morph into the current configuration?

I saw that car race at Long island National --- guessing 1970. It was ahead of its time.

How bout the story of how you found it? Or did it just pop out of the ground in front of you?

This car had two configurations, the first was with the injected engine with no stripes and a flat deck lid like in your first photo know as "Seatons Shaker" and the second as it was found currently with the stripes, a supercharged engine, and the deck lid with a spoiler then renamed "Seatons Super Shaker".

    First configuration

    Second configuration

This was for the 67 season. It was a steel quarter/roof car with doors.

For the 68 season they built a completely new chassis and moved to a full fiberglass flip top body as seen on the cover of the 1968 car craft magazine

Sadly this car was crashed beyond repair shortly after it was sold and renamed "The Super Twister"

It was impounded as an abandoned vehicle from a closed down shop here local and was rescued from the towing yard a couple days before it was to go to the crusher.

If that truly is the Dougs Headers Corvair and you want info on it when it was in that configuration, I can get you in contact with Doug Thorley

Was it ever raced after being rebuilt from the Super Twister crash? A very special piece of early Funny Car history was nearly lost. Wow!!!!! Now it will join many other restored examples for Funny Car fans of that era to enjoy. These cars are really special to those of us who were there to see them when they were new.

It would great if we could get in touch with Doug, he built the headers for Seatons cars back then. with the task of trying to keep the restoration period correct and trying to source as many original parts as possible and or specs to remake the parts it would make the job a lot easier if we can get as much information as possible from the people that were involved with the build.
