Hate to pile on but those wheels overwhelm and distract from a nice '32, if Foose ever calls and asks my opinion I'll tell him that.

  3. I have to agree! Not that anyone cares. Very nice five window! Painted wires would work better. JMO!

  4. I should mention that 51 is powered by a 368 cube Lincoln motor, with tri-power yet.

I think Foose's wheels are really cool. I've never seen anything like them and I've been around this hobby over 55 years. I mean what would you expect from someone in the wheel design business to have a set of steel wheels with poverty caps?

  9. There is a reason Chip is well-known and making the big bucks and I'm not. You definitely don't expect him to just do what everybody else would do do you? I think the man's brain works different than most when it comes to building and designing cars.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at a Concours d'Elegance show in Colorado back in 2008. He even stood beside me by my heap for a picture.

Boy, really is a tough crowd. Both cars look great to me and I like the wheels on both. If we all agreed you guys would want my wife of 43 years. Can't have her.
Is that the same '51 featured on Leno's Garage?
By the way, anybody see anything Hambworthy at SEMA?

It’s not owned by James, it is for sale, it is Rick’s latest.

Those wheels on Fooses ride remind me of a Olds cutlass and Volkswagen mix with a reversed outside in buick finned drum hoop.......Cant say I like em but what wheel does Chip Foose put on a 32?.......obviously has caused a bit of a stir here and Im sure there too, so......???;)

(Recently saw some finned rings from a caddy cap on vette ralleys that was on a car that enloe posted)
I wouldnt have believed it but it didnt look half bad.......

No doubting Foose's talent and I generally like his work but those wheels simply do not work on a stock bodied and interior 32. The offset/design remind me of Toronado wheels. They'd be better off on an LSR styled car.

The car has too many mixed signals. It comes across as a car that started as a restoration, then became a Resto Rod (retaining the stock interior, body, lights, etc) then was updated in 2017 with 18" wheels, etc. IMHO, that shade of green isn't doing the car any favors.

The wheels are too "busy" for me. Perhaps without all the fins? But Iz be loving the car. Gary

I know you guys don't read Hot Rod but the 51 was featured in this year I believe. The owner who had it built, liked a 50s similar looking custom and always wanted a car in it's style. He recently passed away.

In no way do I mean any disrespect towards Chip, and having both a Mechanical Engineering and a Graphic Design degree, I love the guy's work, craftsmanship and talents on both fronts. I watch Overhauling just to watch him work but with that being said, this is the first car he's done that I actually like Although I'm a Halibrand or a painted wire wheel man.

Are those wheels on Foose's car real knock offs? It's hard to tell from the photo, and my horrible eye sight, but I think I see threads coming out the center of the spinners.

The world would be a much better place if that 51 was sitting in my garage. I have a tremendous soft spot for sectioned shoeboxes. I'll go ahead and assume that the current owner is not shipping it right over.

Chip Foose's wheels... meh. Sure has everybody talking about them, just like stuff at SEMA is supposed to do;)

I like the hell out of Chips car outside of the wheels but he can always decide to draw up a simpler set of wheels for it that would be more appropriate. To me they are just too busy with too many things thrown into the design.
